My good, bad and ugly stay at CR

Recently returned from our Disney wedding and honeymoon and wanted to share some things with you guys on CR.
First, we checked in with two rooms on an AP rate. We asked if the rooms could have seperate room charges and were told no unless there was an AP holder in both rooms (which was not the case). What a pain! Then we asked how much a tower upgrade would be and it was unavailable. My first thought was "Booked up the first week of December???" and then I found out there was a huge convention and some ESPN stuff going on. OK, I can handle that, but we did get upgraded for free to a garden view from standard view :)
Then as we continued to checked in and were told we owed over $700!!! CR was only showing $180 paid on two rooms. OK, HELLO? Would they honestly hold two rooms at CR for months after booking with only $180 paid, which was showed as being paid the week before (which it was to pay off our room). Forty-five minutes later, we find CRO had some miscommunication with CR and they did have the money and told us to go and enjoy the parks and call later to get our room keys.
Got to our rooms, they were wonderful and very roomy! This was our first time at CR and we became spoiled from the size and convenience. Walking to MK just to ride Peter Pan and hopping the monorail to visit other resorts and Epcot were wonderful.
One loop while we were there was our last night. My husband went to pick up merchandise delivered to the resort and we wondered the entire trip why our room keys were gold and not the standard colors. The CM at the gift shop informed him he either had a key to concierge or CR had run out of normal room keys! I was still in Epcot when I got a call from him that he used his key and took the elevator all the way up to the 14th floor! WHAT??? He said the area was dark, but we were wondering if we were given concierge access the entire time as a honeymoon treat and not know it or what. We decided not to ask the next morning as we were checking out since the key did not work again. We wondered if it was a weird coincidence.
Upon checking out, we had a room charge of $1100. Surpise, surprise, the money from CRO STILL was not credited. By this time, I was not in the Disney spirit. We ended up spending our last morning at the front desk AGAIN and my husband had to demand the credit card be credited right then and there.
Needless to say, the bad did not outweigh the good and we understand things get crazy with the holidays. We'll be staying at CR again, we really liked it, but we will be sure to check our charges every day we are there.

Well, I'm so happy to read tha tyou kept your sense of humor. That's a terrible situation, especially on your honeymoon. I'm glad you enjoyed the hotel.

Out of curiosity, in which garden wing did you stay? We were in the North Wing this June, facing Bay Lake. The room was lovely and has spoiled me for anything else.

I've always wanted to try CR, but get talked out of it each time by people who comment that its cold, not themed well, etc. Well, something about it appeals to me. I'm glad to read your report in that your stay overall was a pleasant one. You can't beat the location for convenience and a tower room would have a view worth paying for. Insofar as your problems with check in/check out and charges not being applied correctly to your bill--we just came back from a stay at WL. We had so many problems at check-in. It took almost an hour (50 minutes to be exact) to check us in. There wasn't a line, all that time was spent just checking us in. By the time we got our room keys I didn't want to do anything that would involve the front desk again. We didn't charge anything to our room for fear that they would get it screwed up somehow and we didn't want to spend our last hour in Disney arguing over the bill, like you did. Actually, it seems to me that Disney's computer system needs updating. I've read so many problems here on this board that were caused by computer glitches. However, I really would like to try CR sometime. Glad you had a great stay!

sotoalf,
We were in the north wing also. The short walk to the bus stops and MK were extremely convenient.
And I am glad my husband and I both have a sense of humor about things. I'm sure the check-in would have sent some people over the deep end. It also helps that my husband is a computer programmer and was able to lean over the front desk and see the system they were running and say "No wonder why they have problems." :)

Congrats on your wedding! :) I had a Disney wedding back in 1997~

Sorry to hear about your room charge problem! On one of our stays at the GF, I got my express check-out bill and found out that a dinner we had at Narcoossee's was charged 5 times. The CM said they would need to do an "investigation" and gave me a number to call once I got home to check on it. How could I have eaten at Narcoossee's that many times for the exact same charge amount in ONE night?! They ended up taking care of it right then and there, at my request of course. I just didn't want the worry or headache of having to take care of it once I got home.

I would definitely have to agree with this comment. For our DD's 5th birthday this past May, we took a surprise trip to WDW and couldn't get our first few choices of resort - it was really a last minute thing - so we "settled" for the CR. We figured we might as well "make the best of it" and booked a tower room. The look of the CR never appealed to us, which is why we felt we were settling. I mentioned that it was DD's birthday and that we would love a MK view if it were available. Well, we were given a MK view on the 11th floor that was spectacular! The CM at check-in (can't remember his name, but he was so wonderful, an older gentleman) was so happy to inform us of this birthday "magic;" it was very heartwarming to see how much he cared about making us happy!

Here's a photo of the view from our balcony:
