Have you ever seen the commercial where one person sees another person help another and then they do the same? Imagine if "real life" were like that ... "what a wonderful world"

Sometimes in life, we rely on others to pick-up the slack and do the right thing. With a new year, sometimes comes clarity or even a new perspective on life and your surroundings. There's that old saying "the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." Let this be your first step and mine. Who knows where it will take you ...

I pledge at least one random act of kindness every day. Whether it be to hold the door open for the person behind me or pay the tab of the lady in front of me at Wal-Mart. Who knows what type of day that person may be having. A random act of kindness could easily make a person on the verge of suicide live on to see another day or a Mom on her last ten dollars see the kindness in others and not go home and abuse her child. The simplest things in life, sometimes make a world of difference.

I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous 2011!

Love this idea. So often it's the little things that can really make or break you when you are on the edge.

Love it! We did one on xmas eve :) lady ran out of gas on a dark back road. We stopped, drove her 10 mins to get gas can & gas, drove her back, Sean filled it for her and off she went. We were hungry and going to dinner and racing before everything closed... he smelled of gasoline after too lol. But worth it to help her.

Have you ever seen the video for Nickelback's song - Savin' Me ? If not you must check it out and I promise you will love it. It is sooooo touching!!

This is such a good idea! It's the little things that can make someones day go from bad to good. This is why I love the DIS, you are all so friendly and thoughtful of others.

What a wonderful idea. Let's keep this thread going and at the top of the page!!

Let's keep posting our RAOK (Random Act of Kindness) and pass on the positivity!

Thanks for posting this and let's keep the ball rolling!

I will have to come back later after I've done my RAOK and post on it. This gets me thinking!!

What a great idea! Along those lines, I am making a resolution to write at least one thank you letter a week. I heard a bit on NPR about a guy who wrote out (the key there is WROTE, not email, etc...) one thank you note a day for an entire year! Although wonderful, I decided to minimize it to once a week for myself. I am already thinking of people I can send them to and it excites me! :yay: I know I love real letters or cards sent via snail mail so hopefully these will let others know how much I truly care.

I love this idea too. :thumbsup2 This is actually something that is strongly advocated in the children's hospital where I work. Managers are encouraged to hand-write thank you notes to people at least once a month. When I start thinking about all the people who do things to make my life (or the lives of my patients) easier- I could easily write one every day.
We always are quick to complain when someone does something we don't like- but to remember to thank people, even when they are just "doing their job", goes a long way. :goodvibes

Todays random act of kindness ...

I let an older lady cut in front of me in line at the grocery store.

I love this idea! I like to practice RAOK whenever I can. It just makes me feel good, and I like making people smile. I really like this idea of writing thank you letters, or even just writing to let people know I care... not type, but write. Thank you for the idea. :goodvibes

Today's ROAK was... um ... sharing my chips with the Lifeteen Core at tonight's meeting (hey, it was small, but they liked the chips. :) )

Love this idea, it's something I try to practise (at least in small ways) daily.
Yesterday's: Let a man go in front of me at the grocery store check out.

Like I said, sometimes they are small things.

Does this count since it happened on New Years Eve?

We got to Epcot before opening, spent the morning getting fast passes and riding what we wanted to. Well, we decided to head out of the park at 8 pm because we were tired. As we were heading out we handed off our entire stack of fast passes to a family that was heading in. It included 8 test track, 4 soarin, and 4 livin with he land passes.

I thought RAOK stood for Random act of Kicking.

Now I have to rethink my entire strategy....................

Today's Random Act of Kindness ...

My son, Cole, and I were at McDonald's today. A little boy in the play area lost his Happy Meal toy behind the play area. Cole gave the little boy his own unopened Happy Meal toy. I thought that was the sweetest thing!

I absolutely love this idea! It reminds me of the "pay it forward" Dole Whips for Bob.

We were the recipients of a Random Act of Kindness ...

Last weekend, we went to Downtown Dallas to the NFL Experience. (It is part of the Super Bowl festivities). We were outside and about to get into line to purchase tickets when a woman approached us asking how many tickets we needed. Bill told her five and she gave us five FREE tickets. We were very appreciative. Her kindness save us $115.00!!!!!!!!!

:worship: Thank you woman!!!!!
