We just returned from our first DLR trip! I wanted to share my experiences eating GF.

**Please note - I do not have Celiac; I am intolerant to gluten, so I avoid it. I do not have to worry about tiny amounts or cross-contamination.**

Our first night at DLR, we did not have park tickets. We ate at Naples. They do not have GF options listed on the menu, but when I asked, our server said they had many options. I chose the GF Shrimp Penne Alla Vodka.

This was delicious! It actually turned out to be my favorite meal of the DLR trip! 10/10

The next night, we did the WOC Dessert Party. Here was my GF Box:

The server explained the desserts, but I forgot them instantly Lol. I loved the cherry/crumb pie dessert. The dark chocolate Mickey was good. The white, creamy dessert tasted like uncooked cake batter. The dark chocolate square was ok, underneath was a sugar candied something I didn't care for either. The savory side was a compete miss for me. Not a fan at all. 5/10

Here is my GF Turkey Club from Carnation Cafe:

The bun was just ok, but why can't DLR buy a GF bread? I don't always want a burger bun! Turkey and bacon were good, fruit was warm. 6/10

Here is my GF Burger with "Gluten friendly" shoestring fries (the reg fries are battered) at Hearthstone:

Burger was good, bun was ok, white sauce was excellent Fries were good. I wanted it to be awesome for the price. 8/10

GF Cheese Pizza Flopover from Daisy's:

This was too much dough and not nearly enough cheese. 6/10

My Market Fish (Sea Bass) at Blue Bayou (I did not order a GF version, bc I did not read it carefully that there was a sauce) It's dark in there! Lol:

I did not like this dish. I did not like how the fish was prepared. Rice was ok, did not like the sauce. I ate very little of this dish. 3/10

Can't find my pictures of the rest, but I will keep looking:
I had the GF burger at Flo's and the GF Combo Platter at Hungry Bear. Flo's burger and fries were standard but good. 7/10. Hungry Bear I enjoyed the beef brisket and the beans. Not a fan of the slaw or the roll. Roll was very dry and needed butter. 6/10

We did Storytellers Brunch. When I asked abut GF options, our server offered GF Mickey waffles. They were delicious! 9/10
They also brought me a GF Chocolate Chip Cookie, but it was dry and falling apart. 5/10

I had the GF blueberry muffin at Jolly Holiday. It was good, not great. 7/10.

At the GCH quick service I had the Cobb salad and it was very good. 9/10

At Earl of Sandwich Tavern I had the Fish Tacos. They came with rice and beans. Very good. 9/10

At Tiendita, I had the Street Tacos with Chicken. Very good. 9/10

My absolute favorite food item of the trip was the IncrediCookie at Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums in DCA. I had it twice. I loved everything about it and would choose to eat it even if I wasn't GF! 10/10

The freshest, best food of our trip was actually before we got to DLR. We spent the night in Burbank to do the Griffith Park Observatory and WB Studio Tour before heading to GCH. We found a little cafe in downtown Burbank called Wild Carvery. Here is my GF Turkey and Bacon Wrap:

I loved this! Everything was so fresh and flavorful! 11/10

Overall, I was very surprised that eating GF at DLR was such a challenge. It was my first time in California, and I guess I thought it would be easier there than in NY. I did my homework ahead of time, but still felt limited, especially since I am the only one GF in the family. Salad and GF burger buns get old quick. Desserts felt especially lacking, especially from little carts or wagons. I feel like Disney could do GF chicken tenders, GF bread, and a couple of GF baked desserts. (Jolly Holiday never had the cookie that has been on their menu.)

I will say that my favorite little snack place was across from the Jungle Cruise, next to Bengal BBQ. It had fresh fruit, pickles, drinks etc. like all the others, but it also had veggies and dip, guac and chips, strawberries with chocolate sauce, cheese, etc.

After rereading this, it sounds like I am being too negative - we really did absolutely have a wonderful trip!! 😍

Thanks for your review! My mom is a celiac so I am always on the lookout for gf items people have enjoyed!

Was the cobb salad small or did it fill you up? We have had salads from Craftsman Grill but felt hungry after eating them - needed at least a roll or gf crackers to supplement.

I thought the Cobb salad was filling. I actually dumped it out onto a plate and it filled the whole thing. I remember it having a lot of bacon. I could have used a nice GF dessert after, but Craftsman Grill had nothing to offer.

Thanks for sharing! We just returned from DLR also and it was the first time going there since my son and I got our celiac diagnosis. It is more difficult to eat there than I expected especially with how easy it is at WDW. A big part of it was a lack of variety for us, lots of pizza and burgers but we really had to search for other things especially with a 9 year old who is extremely offended if there is only a salad option lol.

Thanks doe the review . My DD (adult) has is allergic to wheat.....but she is also picky. So not much that you tried would appeal to her.....but she would really like the Incredicookie

Thanks, this is so helpful! It would be nice if they had more options.

I forgot Pym Test Kitchen!
I had the GF Reactor Melt. It was good, I just wish there was an option with more protein in the sandwich. The potato bites were good, too. 8/10
We went to Pym's a few times, the kids liked the Proton Potation. :D
