made any ADR's. She wants to know if she can wing it, and I said probably not, because of free dining. Is she going to have a hard time getting ARD's now?

We went last year at that time. It is a great week to go because the crowds are pretty light. It is really hard to get ADR's the day of, though, and we were turned away from many table service places when "winging it". The only places we were able to walk into were 50's Prime Time, Marrakesh, Tony's Town Square, and the Italian place at DHS, and we tried about 50 places during our almost 2 week stay. If I were her, I would try to make your ADR's now, we just did ours a month out and didn't have any trouble at all. It is hard to be spontaneous when you can't go anywhere that you choose! Besides, if she still wants to be spontaneous, she can try and wing it when she gets there, but will still have the ADR's as a backup plan.

Tell her to try to make some ASAP. Call every day until she gets some good ones--people cancel all the time. I would be way too scared to wing it.

We just got back. Had dinner ADRs except for 2 nights we ate at the resort (Capt Cooks, Poly). Didn't make any breakfast ADRs and walked in to Kona 3 times and 'Ohana once. Didn'tmake any lunch ADRs either and walked in to Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, Tangerine Cafe in Epcot, Tusker House in AK, Sci Fri Drive-In in DHS, Planet Hollywood in DTD and a couple of resorts. The only restaurants I saw people being turned away from at dinner were Chefs de France, Rose and Crown, Ohana and Narcoosee. We ate at Narcoosee and it was outstanding; we tried all the rest of our week to get another ADR there but no luck.

Does your friend understand that she doesn't get any money back in the event that she can't get seated at a table service restaurant? That would be my main worry. I would tell her to make some ADRs now, and that she can always cancel them if they decide to eat somewhere else.

We haven't been yet, but we're going the same week. I have had a pretty easy time switching around ADRs, so I think even with FD crowds will be light. Plus there are two deals at that time - you can do either FD or the 4/3 or 5/2 deal. We had our pick of times at quite a few places, including Akershus, Tony's, Sci Fi, 50s Prime Time, Kona, The Wave, Marrakesh, Biergarten, Boma, etc. So I think she COULD wing it, but it seems simpler to just have ADRs so she doesn't have to haul around from place to place trying to figure out what's available and when.
