In situations judged to be of risk of lethality, you may be advised to CLOSE joint accounts to not risk being held liable for JOINT accounts. He can be forwarded his money, but there will no longer an account in both names.
There is the potential for financial abuse when joint accounts are not closed.
Just as the wife left the home spotless, and had the realtor and police aware she was leaving the home this way - so that she could not be held liable for damage to a joint asset - their home.
Unfortunately men who perceive that the woman has broken the grip of control (fleeing the home) commonly accelerate dangerous behavior in other ways - i.e., coming after your family, friends, coming to your workplace, threats, stalking...basically they want you to feel - often you are told to your face - ok you left me but now you're going to WISH you were dead.
Of course that alternates with the "remorse" when he cries and says he's sorry and he'll never do it again. Such as in court.
So hope and pray that the friend of the OP can leave the immediate area if not the state - in extreme cases even leave the country. Depends on how sick the person is pursuing you and how lethal the situation is judged to be by experts.
