My first unpleasant pin experience -- looking for baseball pins

Guess it was bound to happen. Starting our collecting when we arrived at DW one week ago (left yesterday :( ) Anyway, my DH is a baseball fanatic and I saw the pin with Mickey, Donald and Goofy playing baseball but wasn't sure if he would want it, since he was trying to be cool and nonchalant (for the most part) about the pin collecting -- it was for DS and me. Of course, as soon as I mentioned it he did want it. I go back to the rack at MGM on Wednesday and see one more there. As I reach and say to the CM something like "Oh, great, you still have one of the baseball ones" this woman, already holding about 20 pins, literally snatches it from me. I am naturally a very assertive person, but I stood there for a second trying to figure out how best to handle. I decided to be the "big person" and look elsewhere rather than cause a ruckus. She quickly checks out and leaves. Unfortunately, they did not have any others ANYWHERE. DH was a bit upset, but since I had seen this pin once earlier on the trip I thought we could find. NOPE, even checked at Wide World of Sports. Now I wish I had snatched it back, but then I'd be at that level, huh? If it was for me, I wouldn't mind so much, but he is still a little down about it. So I thought that I would see if I could get any suggestions for possible places for this or other cool Disney baseball pins. Thanks!!

Yes, that is it. The part that really bothers me is that there were LOTS of limited edition pins there and this person had no interest until she realized that I wanted it. I guess suddenly it was more valuable to her then. Oh, well, I am still going on the being nice, "good pin karma" train of thought -- there was a guy who really, really wanted a Beauty and the Beast lanyard pin that I had and at first I wanted to keep it BECAUSE it was a lanyard pin, then I had to compare what it meant to him to what it meant to me and I came out second so I let him have it. Shortly thereafter a CM GAVE me a "PIXIE" license plate pin! *Tinkerbell rules*

Thanks for your help.

I have Pin 11523: Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex - The Big Pin Game (Baseball) Artist Choice Dangle
to trade.
I saw them at the Contemporary pin cart. But of course that was a week ago.
And I am very glad you got the Tink Plate! :)

Sharper, thanks for sharing your Pixie pin story :)! Hopefully you & Luv2Roam can work something out. She is a good person to trade with for pins :)!

I know, there are probably a few more still for sale at DW. Unfortunately, we had to leave and I don't think either of our bosses would have accept "we were looking for a pin" as an excuse for extending our vacation (unfortunately!) Luv2roam, is there a particular character or theme pin you are looking for? We don't have a lot, but if you narrow down for me what you might like then I can tell you what we have for trade. Thanks, guys!

E-mail sent.
Also, just for anyone else and for future trips:
If you want sports related pins, go to the store at Wide World of Sports. :) They have quite a variety.

We checked there on our way out of the park. Apparently during the summer there was an effort made to get sports pins from other parts of DW and send there, so they had a large amount for a while. Two different CM's told me that they had had the pin we were looking for, but "they took them to Wide World of Sports." On Friday morning there were fewer than two dozen different pins, no LE's.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience! This is one of those things I always hear about but have never experienced, myself. Good thing Barbara has the pin for you. She started me out on the on-line trading! :)

I have a wee agenda about these pin grabbers. I think we shouldn't accept that kind of behavior. My inclination is to speak up if someone grabs something from me. If that happens to me I will say <gasp> "excuse me, that was in MY hand - not on the rack!" If the person doesn't get reasonable, I will take it to the CM and complain that I was going to buy the pin and that the person actually grabbed the pin out of my hand (or snatched it within milimeters of my fingers as I was reaching for it). I think we need to stand up for ourselves otherwise these pin hogs will continue their unacceptable behavior. I wouldn't take it from my 2 year old - whom I love with all my heart - I'm sure not going to take it from a stranger.

Let's start something! (I'm taking a page out of Flik's book!) ;)

I agree. I probalby you have said something in a loud voice to attract attention and embarass the person, like Lynn-Marie said. That person was just plain rude. She probably wouldn't have noticed if you had not spoken. That's a shame, but in the end, you were the mature adult - most definately!!!

There are a lot of sports pin in the Sport Mickey store at DTD!!! Both Disney, pros and college team pins!

We are leaving for Disney Wednesday - if you email me a picture of it I could look for you and mail it to you when I get back.
