My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Just jumped over from Nebo's report, I've read your first chapter so far and wanted to say I love your writing, I'm always writing a TR in my head but never seem to get it writen the way it sounded in my head. I love reading TRs from good writers I'm also a big fan of Tiggerbell and MissCassie.
Going to get caught up now

Brave girl, riding Tower or Terror! I have been on it twice. First time I cried and swore I would never do it ever again (while my mother laughed her head off the whole ride). Second time on my son's school trip he conned me into going with him and his friends. I tore a hole in his shorts from hanging onto him while screaming my prayers to Sweet Jesus. Again, I said that's it for me! This summer in an elevator at the condo at the beach during a thunderstorm, lightning struck, the power went out, and yep, you guessed it, a real life tower or terror!:scared1: I think it was God's way of reminding me to never ever get on that ride ever again( so I wouldn't forget);)
For the record I like the idea of a "green side"........I wonder if they ever thought about it?

Did you meet any characters while at Disney? Or watch any parades? Just wondering because you haven't mentioned anything about it in your story.

She did watch and mention in the parades in detail. It is towards the beginning. Go back.

I'm enjoying reading your TR. Visiting through the eyes of a first timer has been joyful.
The first time is the best time, that's when you will be most aware. it'll still be great to go again, but it'll be different.

HAHA Lee my heart was beating as you were escaping those rides. My friends tried to get me to go on TOT and rocking rollercoaster and Im like Oh No no way!! I need some Dramamine for the next time we go!! Your convos with Rig sounds EXACTLY like what I'm going to say in 11 days :lmao:
My heart was beating too girl.:lmao: But just to play the disney devils advocate, if the rides weren't safe they wouldn't be running them. It's easy to say that now, but just keep it mind, just incase you do try the thrill rides.
I agree, great update Lee. DW said you know how to end your chapters at the right time to keep us coming back. To keep us in suspense. Now I'm anxious to know if you actually rode RnRC. Which is my favorite ride at all of WDW. Not so much DW's favorite ride. Her favorite is actually ToT.
Of course I know how to end my chapters to keep you coming back, ;) that's the whole idea. Isn't suspense fun?

Give me the spinning pink demons any day of the week, y'all can keep ToT and RnR.

DH took me on RnR once and I jacked up my shoulder something serious. It was already aggravated by our car accident. Everest didn't even hurt it but RnR had me in tears the rest of the weekend.

ToT, I took all the kids on this one, even DD4, she screamed like all get out and I just hated the feeling of falling while having a child clamped down on me. She didn't bite me (LOL) but she just about cut off all the circulation in my arm.
I prefer the spinning pink demons too. I just like when they spin natural and not when Rig was spinning them.

great chapter! I promised nebo I wuld try TOT just once. that was itl just once. I hate heights. but I kinda ruined the ride for myself, cause I missed all the cool stuff to see downt he hallway. I kept my eyes closed so I wouldn't see how high we were, in case they oened the doors!:rotfl:
in the picture, you can only see the back of my head.. I am burying my face in nebo's chest! (I could totally understand the biting thing!)
now big thunder, though, is my FAVORITE! nebo sayd I have hwat he calls a "perma grin" on that whole ride.
I'm glad you can understand the biting thing, :lmao: Sometimes fear makes you scream, sometimes it makes you clench your teeth.

Boy do I understand this line all too well!:lmao: I have a love/hate relationship with this ride. It is exhilarating and and scary all at the same time, yet I ride it at least once every time we go.
SOme of the scary rides I did do again for the same reason, once I experienced the fear the first time it was easier to go a second time.

I said I wasn't going home and checking, I am so tired after a date with my hubby tonight, and have a bit of a headache from the LOUD band...but here I am at 1am. I had to peek! Good for you going on ToT, I did it once, I wanted to try it. I actually love dit but my stomach can't handle it anymore. RnRC, never been on, unfortunatly it opened after my motion sickness issues began. But I have heard the rumors of some possible replacements for Aerosmith and I am hoping it isn't Bon Jovi, cause if it is I will have to do the ride, getting sick or not, cause I LOVE Bon Jovi.
I suppose they will never use a country band as a replacement and possibley slow the ride down a bit?:confused3

Thanks for the update Lee! It was a great night cap to my evening.
You are welcome.

Yeah! Update! :-D I rode RnRC on our first trip. It was actually REALLY fun! I'm not really a coaster person, but I wanted to try at least 1 "Disney" roller coaster and RnRC one seemed like the most tame. I'm working on getting up the guts to try ToT and the other roller coasters on our next trip...we'll see how that goes!
You thought Rock-n-roller coaster was the tame one? Really? I would say Goofys barnstormer is the tame one:lmao:

I rode ToT once when I was 12 and then refused to go on it again despite my brother begging me too (it's his favorite). I am now 24 and promised my brother I'd ride this past April. Well let's just say you did a lot better than me, I actually went in the bathroom and got sick beforehand because I was so nervous:sick:. But, lo and behold, I ended up rather enjoying it and rode it three times. I still shake while I'm riding and for about five minutes after but I'm smiling. I figure it's just my bodies fight or flight reaction lol. Anyway, here's to you :worship:
I sometimes feel pukey when I am nervous, but it seemed like I always had to pee right before a thrill ride.

Phew! 46 pages, I did loads of laundry in between...woke my 5yo dd up f/nighttime potty, nursed and put the baby back to sleep and I finally reached page 47. :woohoo: Loving your writing RigLee. So many times I wanted to cheat and jump ahead pages. Once around page 40, your post count jumped up one and I was so tempted. LOL

I pictured you from around page 3 as Novalee from "Where the Heart Is". The earlier Novalee at the beginning of the movie, not the slightly jaded one toward the end. And I kept thinking of Cord and Jet from "The Amazing Race", too! I can't wait to read more. You seem a little sad. :( I hope all this internet hubbub hasn't gotten you down. Keep writing.
a few other people have pictured me as Novalee too.
I am not sad at all, thank you for your concern:hug: I had a short moment of self pity a few days ago but I got over it and I'm feeling great..

I'm hooked now too!

Love the report - can't wait to hear what happened next!
thanks, I will post the next chapter soon.

We got off, and I asked him how he liked it. "I'm glad I went, I' really proud of myself." The line was still non-existent, so I asked him if he wanted to go again. "No thank you, Mommy." I was trying not to laugh, cause from the look on his face, he wanted to use slightly stronger words than that!

Now TOT, I haven't done and have no desire to try...I'm not big on heights.

I can't wait to read more, RigLee!!!
That's really cute, good boy though for holding back his true feelings. ;)

I found your trip report yesterday and got caught up today. I have loved your story so far. You have a wonderful style of writing. And good for you for going on ToT. We love that ride!

Oh, and I don't remember seeing one of your questions answered. CM, when referring to Disney World employees, means Cast Member.

Looking forward to your next installment. :wave2:
Thank you so much. and I am proud of me for going on Tower of tower too, I said no regrets and was trying to stick to that.

I have problems with motion sickness. Can't do anything that spins or flips upside down. ToT is one of the only thrill rides I can do. Its my only reason for doing HS.

Can't wait to read the next installment! Love your writing!
I can spin all day, the flipping me though, we can leave that out.

RigLee, What a fantasic story!
I'm from England and your story just sums up some English views of well mannered sexy coxboys...and your innocence is so sweet.
It took me the best part of Wednesday to read this entire thread....and I don't even care if it's true life or fictional, although i must admit- I would love to see a picture of you and your Rig :goodvibes

Keep on writting girl:worship:
Thank you. I'm glad my cowboy can sum up some English views on well mannered sexy cowboys. (I like tht you included sexy;))

I am terrified of heights but will take TOT anyday over the pink spinning demons!!!! :rotfl: Last time, DD rode them twice in a row and was making the thing spin so fast that the CM told her before going on the 2nd time to be careful not to puke!!! :lmao: What the CM didn't know is that she is a figure skater so she has the spinning thing down to a fine art! However, she can only spin the teacups in one direction (the way she spins in skating), when she spins them the other way, she gets dizzy!!! :rotfl:

Roller coasters, I love! But, mission mars... don't think there would be enough money in the world to get me to ride that!:rotfl2:
I feel safer spinning on the ground then going straight in the air. the only thing that gives me that sick feeling is my own fear getting the best of me.
that is interesting about your daughter only being able to spin one way.

Great update! I'm proud of you for riding ToT! The CMs can be so creepy.

Can't wait to find out what happens next!
The CM's are so creepy, but it's funny too. I think that would be a fun job. Not scaring people so much, but just being able to play a character all day, most jobs you have to smile whether you want to or not, can you imagine your job requirement be that you don't smile?

Thankyou, I bet you could write a good trip report, most people are their own worst critic. I would give it a try.

Omagosh, I hate elevators, luckily I never have to ride any around here. But wow, I can't imagine losing power while on an elevator.

there was no getting pass Rig. He stopped me in my tracks.

"what is the worst thing that happened to you on any of these rides babylee?

"I was scared crazy."

"but you were safe."

I just hate this feeling I get in my stomache, it's not normal to do this to yourself."

"nothing here is normal Lee, the mice talk here and dogs drive cars, forget normal."
It's not what I meant but, whatever!
Rig turned me around and we walked to join the end of the line.
"Babylee, it's the fear that makes up half the fun."

I stood there contemplating. I had to make my decision soon.

"I can do without that half of the fun....Thankyou!"

"Sometimes even when you feel the fear, you need to face it head on."

"Rig! don't get all Dr. Phil on me, I don't need that." I was mad, but not at Rig, I wanted to ride this, I didn't want to be a baby about it. I was sick of fighting with myself everytime I got in line for a scary ride.

"What do you need?

"just be you."

Rig put a hand on each of my shoulders, "If you ride this, you will have some braggin rights."

I like bragging rights, I did say that I was going to do it all, I would be able to brag and say I did.
We got up to the CM and when he asked how many in our party, I held up 2 fingers.

Rig was estactic, "You might even like this baby."

I highly doubted that.
we went and stood in the line where the CM told us to. I realized that we were in the very front. ooo, maaaaaan.! I know I am going to regret this. I thought about maybe fainting and possibly playing possum, Rig would have to carry me out of there and then as soon as I hit the fresh air I would feel good enough to move on, but should maybe avoid any thrill rides in case of another fainting episode. I wasn't positive my acting skills could pull that off. I wasn't sure I even had any acting skills. Rig has always been able to see right through me.

there were 2 young girls infront of us, I couldn't tell if they were friends or sisters. they both had the same hair color, one was taller and had braces but that was it for similarities. Do you ever do that? see 2 people out and wonder if they are friends or related? I do. But anyway, these 2 girls were laughing and carrying on, if they were nervous to ride they didn't show it. I wished could be like that, wished I weren't such a chicken all the time. "Rig, my mouth is so dry I can't make spit."

I won't tell you what Rig said, it was kind of gross, but the girls thought it was funny. they kept turning around and looking at Rig after that, he would catch them looking and then they would turn around quick, so the next time they turned to look at Rig he tipped his hat to them and that brought out all kinds of giggles and whispers between the 2 girls.

Rig asked the girls, "You ever ride this before?"

"Like 20 times," the taller girl answered

"Do you have any advice for first time riders?"

the two girls had lot's of advice and talked a mile a minute sharing it with us. "Don't close you eyes, it makes it worse, and keep your head back when the ride takes off or it will slam you back hard." the shorter girl added, "And don't chew gum, because I did and almost choked to death."
That brought on more giggles.
they were cute girls. bet they were cheerleaders, they had the bubbley personalities to be one.
It was their turn to get into their limo, we would be next. the shorter girl yelled to Rig, "Have fun."
"You too sweetheart."
then as they were pulling away the taller girl yelled, "My friend thinks your hot!"
My first thought was, ok, they're not sisters, they're friends, my second thought was, Yea Rig is hot. (even with his bruises and swollen eye)

Our limo pulled up and Rig got in first and then helped me in. He put his hat on the floor by his feet, and then helped me pull the safety bar/harness down before pulling down his own. "these are nice sturdy restraints lee, they'll keep you in your seat, and keep my nipples from gettin bit."

If I had any spit that I could use to pull my tongue off the roof of my mouth I would have told him that these restraints were temporary.

The CM came around checking that all was safe and secure. then our limo moved out and around the corner. we were stopped by the red light. Normally I am impatient at red lights, but I could have sat at this one all day.

my vision shrunk to a pinhole and I got a ringing in my ear that caused everything around me to sound muffled.

This was the longest and shortes wait of my life. You wait and wait to go, just to hurry up and get it over with, but yet you don't want it to come because you know it's going to suck!

And it did, it sucked....the air right out of me. There was no screaming from me on this ride, I had no air to do that. I also did not take any of the girls advice, well except the "don't chew gum on that ride" advice. I didn't have my head back when the ride took off. I kept my eyes closed too, I don't know if opening them would have helped at all anyway. It sounded like a city jungle, loud music and car horns honking, tires screeching mixed in was the people screaming, and Rig laughing, and my own thoughts of "Never again."

the ride shook me so violently from side to side, it hurt my ears, You really shouldn't wear earings on this ride. those girls should have told me that, I might have taken that advice.

Not soon enough the limo got us to our destination. I had the same jello feel to my legs as I did when I finished riding space mountain, and this time I had to climb out on my own. Rig did try to help me by pushing on my back side. "Rig, how is putting your hand on my butt supposed to help me?"

"Oh that's just for me babylee."

Rig was dying to see the ride picture. I think he enjoyed seeing how ridiculous I looked. He had said that fear is what made up half the fun on scary rides, I'm sure seeing my picture after each one was what made up the other half of the fun. At least for Rig anyway.

this picture was the worst by far, it didn't even look like me.

We didn't brouse the gift shop at all. We just headed straight out to get started on what I call fun.
We got outside and the 2 girls were standing their with some of their friends. "that's him." the taller one said, a little louder then the other girl wanted her too. she playfully smacked her friend.
As we walked by Rig tipped his hat at all the girls, they squealed. It was a cute scene. It's funny that preteen or early teenage girls will flirt with older guys and act all cutsie, but you don't really see boys in their early teens acting that way towards older girls. they don't do it to me anyway:confused:

We walked as far as the big sorcerers hat before having to pull out the map. It would be nice to have GPS for the parks, just punch in voyage of the little mermaid and follow the directions.
It wasn't confusing or hard or anything like that, it just seems like everything is hidden behind something else, Hollywood studio was like a corn maze to me.
Rig found it on the map and then we turned in that direction.

I had noticed about Hollywood studios was alot like Epcot in the fact that you do alot of waiting in one room just to be moved into another, you get a show before the show. It breaks up the monotony of just waiting in the same dull line for 20 minutes.

We were eventually let into the theater. We tried to sit as far back as we could, Rig doesn't like to block the view of little ones. We ended up almost dead center of the place. Rig took his hat off and slid down in the chair as much as he could and still be comfortable. I leaned against him and he put his arm around me. Just like when we go to the movies at home.
He also likes the back of the theater for other reasons, I'll leave that up to your imaginations, but keep it PG, cause we do.

there wasn't any PDA durin gthis show though, from the minute the lights went down and the music started I was captivated. It was such a good show, the lazer lights and the gof, the rain, it was just so perfect, you don't feel like you are watching a show anymore, you really feel you are there in the moment, under the sea, and then on the beach with the wind blowing. and Ariel was amazing, I wish I could sing like that. This would become my favorite at Disneyworld. ( I said that alot and it was true everytime, I have alot of favorites) the show was over now, It ended like it was supposed to with Ariel getting her prince.

the lights came on and I had to wake up my cowboy.

Just wantin to tell ya that I think you are very brave to be writin this as your first time writin anything. I have been writin my trip reports in my head and when I get some time, down on paper. You have givin me the courage to sit a spell and try it for real here.

You are a real hero to me and others I reckon. Thank you for showing me I can get people to read my stories about adventure even if I am not a city girl and polished like fine silver.

I love to see the ride pictures. I bought the one of the first time my DS rode Expedition Everest. He looks terrified. He has managed to avoid the ride since then. He "just doesn't feel like it right now". :lmao:

I know! I'd definitely break character if I had to work in ToT- I'm a smiley, giggly person in general so it'd be hard for me to be stern and spooky

Ooo boy, I'm right there with ya for your first time nerves on RnR- it took me about 3 years to go on it! My first time was the front row too and I freaked out when the CM told me and my BF to go to row 1. The CM told me I'd be fine, it's actually the smoothest ride and it was! I agree with Rig- fear does make up half the fun. You feel so proud of your self after you conquer something scary (even if you say never again afterward, haha!)

I love Rock N Roller Coaster! My 8 yo DS does too but I couldn't get my 11 yo DD to ride it last year!

I'm trying to get up the guts to go on rock n roller coaster! I'm glad you had the guts to do it! I used to be a rollercoaster junkie and would go on any rollercoaster, now all of a sudden I have terrible anxiety problems and freak out about them. My husband really wants to go on rock n rollercoaster again (we did it once pre freak out) hopefully I will catch it on a day where its a walk on and I don't have time to talk myself out of it or into a freak out in line.

And I agree with those girls. Closing your eyes on that ride is a bad idea. BTW....almost everyone's ride picture on RnR looks ridiculous. You take off so fast, it's like an instant face lift in the picture. :rotfl:

Out of all pictures, I wish we could see that one ;)

I just wanted to say that your dogs are ADORABLE!! What kind are they?

I figured you wouldnt like the RnR since you didnt like thunder mountain.. ha .. but that good that you rode it anyways.. at least you got the experience!! if you wanted it LOL...

I love the little mermaid. I soooo cant wait for My DD to ride it when we go.. now that she is old enough to know what the little mermaid is!

I agree with everyone - it seems like we are reading one of those romantic Harlequin novels. Fun so far! (this is real, right?)

I'm sure after trying RnR and TOT, if you go back to Big Thunder Mountain you're not going to find it as scary. :)

I think you skipped my last post when you responded to everyone. Probably because my post was the last one at the bottom of a page.:cutie:

Nice pre-book launch. You should take up writing if you have not already. You almost sucked me in to your story but it was still a nice read.
I do look forward to your next posts.

Now the fiction is showing. Pooh and Peter Pan will have the long lines while Snow White will not! ;)

I am still enjoying it anyway.:thumbsup2

When we went in July..we went to MK 3 days.. in the AM and in the PM.. and stayed late and pooh and peter pan lines were short and SW was LONG!! We never even got to ride it.
