Day 4--June 9, 2002
Off to Disney MGM Studios!

It seemed very hard to get up that day and I think it was because the fatigue was starting to set it! :) And that king bed was sooo comfy! It was nice though because since moving to the Boardwalk we had our groceries so we all had cereal for breakfast (well, except Erika who lives off of Pop Tarts ;) ) It looked great outside! Not a cloud in sight! We got in line for the boat and we were all in a good mood since MGM has some of the best attractions. The bad thing though is the boat ride took forever....it stopped at Yacht Club and then Swan & Dolphin and then the long slow haul to MGM. Epcot's boat seemed quicker but even then we had opted to walk back that night instead of take the boat. The walk from MGM looked quite a bit longer. We didn't get there until about 9:30am or so. The security was pretty slow here. When we finally got in we decided to get a FP for Rockin Rollercoaster and get in line for Tower of Terror. The line for TOT was moving pretty slow and I suspect it was because FP users were coming through. TOT was our longest wait...about 45 minutes. It doesn't seem to bother me though because once you get inside you can look around at the theming and you're not in the heat anymore. Erika and I were trying to pump Mike up. I absolutely adore Tower of Terror...I like the drops but I love the detail and how long the ride is. When we finally got to the elevator we were placed in the back :( We wanted to be in the front but forgot to ask to wait...Erika had never been in the front when the doors open (I had). She did have a penny but I think she forgot to use it. We hadn't been since 1999 and they added a few drops didn't they??!!! :) Mike screamed pretty good. All in all it was a great ride. I bought the photo because Erika looks absolutely hilarious....scared to death!! By the time we got done with the ride and buying the photo it was time for our RNRC Fastpass. We got right in which was nice. We also asked to sit in the front. We were all pretty pumped up by this point. Erika and I thought this was the best coaster ever and we though Mike would think so as well. The takeoff was SO FAST! I remembered it but it seemed faster! I believe we had "Walk this Way" blaring. I sure love this ride with the interstate signs. I wish it were longer though :( Mike liked the takeoff so much....but I think he liked Space Mountain better which sounds surprising. I bought that photo too From there we didn't know really where to go but finally settled on getting a FP for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid for the noonish show. We got that and then happened to see that the wait for Who Wants to be a Millionaire was only like 15 minutes without a FP so we thought we should get in line because all of us wanted to try it. We did get in very shortly and we headed up to about the tenth row and sat down ready for play. They went over the rules, lighting etc. and then introduced the host. At that point we started the first fastest finger question. It was putting movies in order from earliest to latest and the choices were Ghostbusters, When Harry Met Sally, Singin in the Rain and American Graffiti or something like that. I took a stab and entered them pretty quickly on the keypad. It was at that point that I realized I had done it pretty quickly and.....what if I was right?? They showed the answers and I was and I thought, Oh brother. I'm not shy really, but to get up in front of 500 people and answer questions was a bit nerve wracking. Sure enough my seat number 333 came up as #1. I was so nervous I didn't know what to do, although I tried not to show it. I got down there and they asked me about myself, who I came with, etc. and we finally started the game. I got the first question right....it was about Peter Pan! I ended up having to use my three lifelines because I got stuck with some science questions (hate the subject). I got up to only 4,000 points, but I guess that wasn't too bad considering I had never been on the set and I got stuck with three science questions. I went down with the cast member to the VIP room and got my prizes. I thought it was pretty cool how that ran the whole show. It is like a real live working set! When I came back up there was another young kid in the hotseat. He was a student at Harvard. Everyone could tell he was cheating! He kept looking at his buddies and they were mouthing the answers. They brought a castmember out that faced his friends to try to get the point across but it didn't seem to phase them. The host reminded him to keep his eyes on the screen. HA He only got to 5,000 with cheating and he was a student at Harvard. I felt much better :) When we left the show it was funny because people kept saying stuff to me, and one lady even said I looked better in person, isn't that funny? We headed over to Voyage of the LIttle Mermaid because our Fastpass time was arriving. We ended up getting an ice cream bar because it was near lunch time and we were starving. We got in the show no problem. It's still as good as I remembered it. I thought Mike would think it was corny, but he didn't at all! In fact I believe he said it was neat :) Erika makes fun of everyone that goes "oooohhhhh" when the water first falls down LOL. She thinks it is hilarious because she said it's just water. After that we headed out to get some lunch. I mentioned the ABC Commissary because I had eaten there in the past and it always had good food and air conditioning! When we looked at the menu though it seemed different...not a lot of good choices really. I ended up going with a cheeseburger and Mike and Erika got Fish and Chips. I thought my burger was pretty good and they like the fish alright. It definitely is a popular lunch spot. At that point we decided to go to Muppet Vision 3D as it is Erika's favorite and very high on my list. There was absolutely no line for that either. Mike liked that pretty good....I think all the 3D shows are a treat :) Then we decided to do one more thing and then take a break. The Studios Backlot seemed to be the logical choice since it stopped at 7pm or so. We walked over there and got in line. Just as we did so a cast member asked if we would like to go to the front of the line. We said of course....she said she just needed a volunteer for the first stunt. Erika volunteered (very unlike her!) As soon as we got to the first segment I could see that they had changed the set since I had been last! It looked like a war ship and there was a sign that said Harbor Attack. Soon her and the three other volunteers came out dressed in the blue slickers to perform the scene. The one gentleman performed a segment by himself in a secluded area with a steering wheel. Boy did he get dumped on! Then it was time for the others. It was a riot!! I taped it....Erika is so tiny that the water from the "torpedos" knocked her over when it hit her. When she got cleaned up we joined the line for the tram ride through the backlot. This ride seemed longer and more boring....is it just me??? I used to always to that ride but for some reason I caught myself looking at my watch. And I thought that the semi fell a bit in catastrophe canyon?? It didn't move at all this time. After Backlot we were dead tired so we headed back to the boat dock. We had to wait awhile but were finally on our way to our room. We took a nap! I think Erika went to the pool for awhile. She's used to having one at her house so she was in withdrawal that we hadn't been yet :) Around 5:20 or so we got ready to go back to MGM for our PS at Sci Fi. We were rushing because it was going to be a close call. We got to the boat dock in just enough time, but by the time we docked at MGM it was already 6:10pm, our PS time. We booked across the park to Sci Fi and signed in. We got in about 10 minutes later. I love this place. Many people hate it but I've always liked it and will probably always eat there. It really is a good time and it does seem like a drive in...almost better if you ask me. All of us got shakes...I got cookies and cream and Erika and Mike got strawberry. They were delicious but they really filled all of us up. It filled me up to the point I didn't even want to think of food. Erika and I decided to split the BBQ ribs and Mike got the Shrimp Penne Pasta. He enjoyed it and said it too was filling. I could barely eat. I was disappointed because it was good. Oh well I guess. I really enjoyed our visit to Sci Fi and so did Mike and Erika. From there we had to decide what we wanted to do....We had missed the last Indiana Jones show but had already decided we were coming back another day for it. We went to Star Tours. There was barely any line at all. We got in the ride about 10 minutes after we arrived. This attraction was better than I remembered it. Mike likes Star Wars alright so he thought it was pretty neat. Erika could have probably cared less if she rode it :) After that it was nearly 8:30pm and we wanted to see Fantasmic! We headed over to the amphitheater to find standing room only. We couldn't believe it was already that full! So pouting we took the standing room only. It wasn't too bad I guess. None of us had ever seen the show. I was surprised although I thought there was more acting vs. waterscreens, but I didn't mind. I really enjoyed the presentation a lot....Mike liked it as well. Erika is not easily amused and I think she just thought it was ok. The music was great! We started to leave just as the last two minutes were going on to try to beat the crowd. We ended up deciding to walk instead of take the boat because it would be packed. It was actually a pleasant walk, especially at night. It isn't too far, but I can see where walking it in the day would be tiring. We did beat the boat back ;) We couldn't believe it hadn't rained all day for once!! What luck!! And barely any clouds. We got back to the room just beat. I sat out on the balcony for awhile as usual and then got ready for bed. I slept like a rock!!

DAY FIVE COMING SOON:p :jester:

Pumbaa,

Where is the special seating located?? Next time I would like to do Sci Fi for lunch and Hollywood and Vine or Hollywood Brown Derby for dinner....

It sounds like you had a great time! Congratulations on winning the "hot seat" - what was your prize?

I got the collector's pins that you can get only if you are in the hotseat for the dollar amounts... 100, 200, etc. I also got a hat and a lanyard. Not bad :)

I think you did extremely well - I could never answer questions in front of all those people! Too bad for those science questions :(

Excellent Job Nikki on getting in the hot seat! What great prizes though. I guess it's time to start pin collecting huh. Can't wait to read Day 5.

Also nice to know you had great weather. Last year we walk over to MGM in the morning it is a bit tiring in the heat. But you beat the boat every time!

See ya,

Wow! Mike must have felt very important escorting two celebrities around the park :D ! It sounds like a perfect MGM day. Looking forward to reading more :) .

Congratulations on your WWTBAM experience!

Thanks for another great report:)
