I didn't play sports as a kid, never entered anything in the county fair, and until this week, had never shown any of my photos anywhere other than the internet. I joined a local photography club in April, and decided to enter a few of my photos in their competition at last night's meeting.
Imagine my surprise!

This photo won second place in the digitally altered category. (I'd cloned out a yardarm on the right side I didn't like.)
It's just a small group with less than 100 members, about 20 of which were present and participating in the contest. But I have to tell you, I was thrilled when they called my name. By the time I'd been to the podium a third time, I was really on cloud 9. At 47 years old, I think these are honestly the first ribbons I've ever won in my life.
Now I'll have to start plotting to win my first trophy somehow.
