So -- I'm heading to Disney for the fist time since I was 13 years old (I'm 34 now!!) Obviously, a LOT has changed since "back in my day"! We are staying off-site in a house -- I just can't face a hotel room with 4- and 2- year old boys. My question is -- If we go to any of the "resort" restaurants, can someone give me the low down on parking? How long? How much does it cost? etc.

Thanks!!!!!

Stephanie :)

You will get a 3 hour parking pass to eat at one of the monorail resort restaurants.

Welcome to the Dis! :cool1:

If you self park, there is no charge. Just ask the guard to directed you. For valet parking, the charge is 7 or 8 bucks, plus tip.

Sometimes you get a 3 hour pass .. it depends on the resort and time of year. I have only gotten them at the monorail resorts.

So, If I self park is parking free at all of the resorts? If I don't get a 3 hour pass -- I assume there is a time limit?

You are only suppose to park there to eat, not to then head to a park.

If you want to head to a park afterwards, then park at the TTC.

If you are going to one of the hotels which is inside the MK toll plaza you will have to pay the $9.00. If you bring your parking receipt you may get reimbursed (or credited back) the parking fee. Note if this happens they will keep the parking receipt.

Some of the hotels will give you a time-stamped temporary parking permit to display on your dashboard. If you do not display it, or you exceed the time limit, you may be towed, espoecially if they are crowded.

If you are going to one of the deluxe hotels you can use the valet parking. Then any time limitation does not apply. However, there is a daily fee for valet parking, and the valets are "tip positions".

We always stay off-site and have eaten at Ohana many times and gone to the luau. When we get to the MK tollbooths we tell the attendant what we are doing and they show us which lane to get into and have NEVER charged us to park. You will follow signs and then come to the gate at the Poly and again explain what you are doing and they will tell you where to park and may or may not give you a temporary pass.

I always like to explore the different resorts on non-park days and the gate attendants are always helpful and give a temporary pass. Most will ask to see your drivers license.

If you go to the MK area to a place like Poly, GF, etc just keep RIGHT as you enter the toll plaza area. The very right booth has sort of a designated lane for those just driving to a hotel and not the Magic Kingdom.
My guess is that at places like the Poly and the Contemporary, you will probably get a 3-hour parking pass.

Looks like everyone else has answered your question. I just wanted to say welcome to the DIS Boards!
