After planning an August trip to WDW the past few weeks, we just couldn’t take the anticipation anymore and needed a ‘quick fix’. We took a spur of the moment ½ day trip to Disneyland yesterday!! :D

Now don’t get me wrong, anything Disney is great, but WDW being my first experience, I have always been a tad bit biased when it comes to going to Disneyland. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just not Disney World to me. So anyway, we got to the park and proceeded to buy our tickets. I don’t know if the lady was new or just made a mistake, but they tried to charge our card over 500k !!! We assured her we just didn’t have that kind of money, but I don’t think she found it that funny (she kept trying to assure us that it wouldn’t try to charge our card that much). I hope she didn’t think we were that concerned, we thought it was pretty funny.

We laughed about it a little, got our tickets and went on our merry way. Although upon looking at the tickets after we got home, they said they were paid for in cash, not credit so we decided to call our bank to see if the charge had gone through okay. So far, it looks like we weren’t even charged for the tickets at all! I’ll be looking for the charge to show up, but if it doesn’t… talk about a ‘dose of the magic’!

We started out going to Toontown and looking for characters, so that I could get some pictures and we could see how our 18 month old would handle things before ‘the big trip’.. but I just wasn’t feeling the magic very much. It was awfully crowded and something just seemed off, but I think it was more me than anything. Finally we went on PotC and my oldest LOVED it. I did too, I’d never been on it before, and it was great.

When I tried to exit the ride, my foot slipped and I bent my wrist wrong and I had to take a trip to the first aid station. They gave me a bandage and some ibuprofen. While we were trying to get the bandage on, one of the ladies behind the desk went to check the room next door (the place for lost children) to see if ‘someone’ was still there. We had no idea who she was talking about, so we were totally shocked to see Tigger come bouncing through the doorway!! My oldest was jumping up and down, and my little one’s eyes were as huge as ever! While Tigger was hugging the 6 yr old, we got the 18 mth old out of the stroller. Tigger turned around and looked in the stroller for her (searching every corner and just playing it up big time) and my little one attacked his legs giving him the biggest hug ever! He picked her up and she just would not let go! It was really great, Tigger slowly slid down on the floor, laid down and ‘snoring’ noises started coming out of him. My little one just laid there on top of him for a little while. The ladies behind the desk were trying to take pictures, but they were out of film. By the time we got ours out of the backpack – my daughter was already standing up again.

Oh boy, if that wasn’t enough, it was then MY turn apparently. I had finished wrapping my wrist and Tigger noticed the bandage. Not knowing how to explain what happened, I just told him DH did it!! :D DH then got his wrist slapped and was scolded! Tigger came back to me to 'kiss it and make it better' (then he pretended to hurt it again and laugh!!).

I’ve read many stories about character interactions, but never thought I’d have a chance to experience any of this.. Tigger was just great and it really brightened the kids day. (My little one started screaming when we started to leave, Tigger ran over and gave her a big long hug and she stopped crying and just held on for a little while).

I have to say this is the first time I’ve had a real dose of the magic.. I’ve been to Disneyland twice now, and WDW once.. but nothing exciting every really happened (or I was too young to remember). For all of you that say not to take young children to the parks, just because they may not remember it – well, I have to disagree because yesterday was a day I will NEVER forget, and I have stories to tell her for the rest of her life just because of it. She enjoyed it while she was there, and so did we.. Each time I think about the little trip we took to DL, it’ll bring a smile to my face and magic in my heart. If she ever asks what I’m smiling about, I can just look at her and say ‘I was just thinking of that day you were playing with Tigger’.
