My eyes welled up in the Disney store today because.... Well first I noticed the little girl PJ's don't come in a size 12, then as I moved through the little boy stuff I realized that little boy who loved 'WOODYBUZZ' so much will never wear the clothes again. I did manage to pull myself together but just barely... anyone else ever have one of those moments?

OK, so I know I'm blessed. My kids are doing well and growing up to be 2 amazing people I really love to be around. They are strong, smart, happy & healthy (most of the time) so I am grateful. BUT, I would be lying if I didn't die just a little bit inside knowing that the only person who would be thrilled with a character sweatshirt in my house right now would be me. sigh...

I feel for you.
My daughter is now 10 and outgrew her princess room:scared1:

Well, at least you're smarter than me. I refused to accept it and bought some fairly expensive pieces that were never worn. :sad1:

My kids are now 17 and 18 (soon to be 18 and 19), and I think in a few more years they'll come around again. Or, maybe I'll refuse to accept it and buy a few fairly expensive pieces that will never be worn. :lmao:

Just save them for the grandchildren you can brainwash...I mean spoil:laughing:

Hi!

Well mine just teared up reading your post.
Yes bigtime I feel your pain.
My youngest is a senior this year and I just can's handle it!

But thank heavens I have a 15 month old grandson and a grandaughter due in spring!

The first purchase for my grandaughter will be one of those beautiful princess dresses that did not exist when my daughter was younger......

Hang in there........ ;)

Thanks guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling the sting from this, it makes me feel less silly.

Happens to me all the time. For the past year I've been selling off my childhood doll collection and it's been tough, I'm such a collector, always have been. I think about my Dad and when certain dolls were bought and my mom and how my dad and mom got divorced after being married for 31 years and how nobody has played with any of the stuff for years since they've been in storage but I KNOW it's the right thing to do. I want those dolls to go to someone else who will cherish them, I want someone else to love them, I want them to not be in a box in a basement for another 20 or 30 years.

If you think this is bad, you should see how verklempt I get when going through my DD's stuff...and it;s everything...papers from kindergarten and old projects and her favorite books when she was a little kid.

And I truly do hear you, OP, on how one suddenly realizes that I won't be getting DD little girl pants and dresses anymore and dolls and toys...

phooey.
agnes!

I was really lucky. My son outgrew, but my daughter never did. I have always gotten to buy Disney forever....she's going to be 32. After college she went to work at WDW for several years. We have lots of the good stuff! Now I have a granddaughter that is just 18 months old that I am buying Disney for!!!!! :-) Hang in there....someday those kids will give you grandkids and the stuff that is out there now is even better than when my kids were little!!!!! Totally understand your moment!!! Hugs to you.

LOL I just started crying readying this :rotfl:.

My youngest is 7 and Im pretty sure he wont wear this stuff much longer.

We are hoping for another one in the next year.. maybe I will get another chance to dress a little one up just like I want them HAHAAHA!

Completely understand!

Along with lamenting the things my son has outgrown, while planning our trip this year, he said to me, "Dad, I'm getting big. You won't be able to carry me on your shoulders at Disney this year, huh?"

Mind you, I have been carrying him on my shoulders his entire life. We would go on outings and rarely need a stroller, because I preferred to have him on my shoulders. When he was really little and would fall asleep during the day, I would hold him in my arms as we walked.

Now he's 4'3" and close to 80 pounds. I'm 48 years old and not getting any younger.

But I GUARANTEE you, when he gets tired of walking on this trip, I will carry him on my shoulders! I don't care how much my body cries out or how much shaking the quad muscles in my legs do, he will have the bird's eye view whenever he wants it.

I know this will be the last time for that, and it makes me greatly sad.

As a matter of fact, several years ago, I did a little video that was inspired by exactly that relationship. I haven't watched it in ages, but if you want to see it, it's HERE.

Whoa! Watching it again, and seeing how young he was, just gave another rush of sadness... I gotta go watch a Jeff Dunham video or something. :)

Ahh I understand this perfectly. Having 6 kids I figured we would never outgrow the Disney Store :cool1: . Unfortunately our local one closed last year :sad1: and this summer I walked into one and had NO ONE to buy anything for! :confused3

What a terrible moment! I tried to talk my youngest an 11 yr old DD into a stuffed animal, a tee shirt, anything! It wasn't happening. No one else even wanted to look. I actually shed a few tears.

As to old clothes, I just couldn't bring myself to ebay the old princess costumes of my DD's. I have them up in the attic and will save them.

I understand all too well.

*sigh* yes, I understand!
Just recently, we looked through photo albums and loved seeing my kids as little ones wearing Pooh, 101 Dalmation, Bug's Life, Toy Story and princess pjs. It brought a tear to my eyes as well. I just had my DS14 clean out his closet of clothes he has outgrown or will not wear anymore, and in the done pile were several Disney shirts including his Expedition Everest shirt which was his favorite for a few years. It was so cool. :eek:I was crushed!

Yes, my DD informed me when school started this year that it's not cool for 4th graders to wear Disney shirts to school:sad2:. I must say, my heart broke in a few places. She still loves Disney though, just can't show it too much at school. LOL

Completely understand!

Wow! That was beautiful. You guys have me all teary tonight. Tomorrow is our 25th anniversary and I guess I'm very sentimental tonight because I just can't believe how quickly time has passed.

 I just wanted to Thank you for posting this. I tend to get ahead of myself and needed to read something like this. My DS is only 2.5 and our second DS is due in March. We just bought a house, we are strapped for money now as we try to put stuff into the house, DH is just starting a new job which should bring a GREAT future but it takes time. I keep thinking ... I can't wait until X date when the house is fully funished, DH's job is growing and we are doing X and Y. I need to remember to enjoy this time and not rush ahead.

Thank you.

Teary eyed here! For our upcoming DLR trip it will probably be the last time I have a little one who BELIEVES that Sleeping Beauty lives in the castle. We won't be back for a few years, so I hope she still wants to wear princess dresses next time. Waaaaah! They grow up too fast. If I could wave a magic wand and freeze them as they are for 10 more years I think I would!

Don't forget about buying sleepwear with the Disney theme. I've been given it as a gift and love it. Maybe your children will accept this.

My DD will be 9 next week and her new princess dress (snow white) just came in the mail. We leave Dec. 9th and I have a feeling this will be the last year we lug all of the dresses with us! She is so innocent and still believes! I have held off buying her the Jasmine outfit, b/c that seems to be worn by older girls. I am hoping next year she can still dress up in that!! Can't wait to see her in her new snow white (oh I remember when she would call her snow wipe) dress!!

Oh my - this just happened to me last friday.

I was at the mall doing some christmas shopping. I hit Justice and Claires for my dd. Well I thought why not go to the DIseny store.

So I walked in and looked at all the toys. My dd (8) has some similar so there was nothing there. Then I walked furhter in and saw.... the wonderful, beautiful princess dresses!!!:cloud9:

And then... I realized that my peace sign and skull loving dd will not be wanting or wearing them. :sad1:

So for the first time in my life I walked out without buying her anything.

Which ofcourse left me money to go to bath and body works for me. :rolleyes1:woohoo:
