My co-worker is going down end of August with Free Dining. She has 2 rooms at Coronado Springs. 1 is for her parents, the other is her, her DH and 2 kids.

She wants to add another room for extra space for her family. She called and was told she could get a room only with a % discount for her dates putting her DH on that reservation.

My concern is that DH will then be on 2 reservations and I didn't think that would work.

If she does this, will she lose him on their Free Dining reservation?

I can't comment on what will happen if he is on two reservations. My concern is that connecting rooms are not guaranteed, so that extra room could be in a whole other area of the resort, in another building, floor, down the hall, etc.

If the kids are under 18, there must be an adult in that room. If they discover there's not, that's where the real issue occurs.

yes, there would be an adult in each room. My concern is that he would be listed on 2 different reservations because she does not want to lose his free dining on the first ressie and I was not sure if that was allowed.

Yeah, that's sketchy and I suspect it will be an issue. Disney don't like giving stuff away like that.

I agree but of course a reservations person on the phone made the suggestion to her. I'm afraid she'd get there & there would be an issue but its hard to argue against "disney said"!!

I think there are a few concerns here.

First, as you've mentioned, you wouldn't want the DH to get dropped from the initial reservation with free dining. Could you accomplish this by having one reservation be in the wife's name and the other in the husband's name? I am wondering if that might work.

Second, there's the room location issue. A previous poster is correct that connecting rooms are only a request, not a guarantee. Therefore, this second room for her family to "spread out" in could be across the resort. That doesn't seem practical.

I think even if she can get the room only discount on #2 but keep everyone on the free dining room, the issue of the non-guarantee for connecting rooms makes this an impractical solution.

But even if the ressies are in 2 names, his name is on the first reservation as a guest on that room. Or does Disney not look at/care about anyone but the lead name?

I think that the problem would arise when the reservations are added in MDE. He won't be able to be on two concurrent reservations in MDE and it won't matter whether he is the lead name or one of the other guests.

That's what I thought. So I guess the question becomes does the room only have to be connected to MDE? Do you have to have a MDE account to have a WDW resort reservation?

You could have wife and her email on one Ressie and husband and his email on second Ressie and link them in mde. As long as the leads/emails aren't the same it doesn't matter. Otherwise people with common names would potentially be cancelled because another family of the same name is there

However the connecting rooms is still an issue

Ahhh, the missing piece if the puzzle. So yes it could be done but I agree and have been telling her that connecting rooms are a real crap shoot. Of course, if it were me, I could live with DH having his room on the other side of the resort ;-)!!
