These boards have turned into hysteria!! :rotfl:

I called at 7 am this morning to make a reservation and started off by saying "Hi, I had rec'd a postcard in the mail but I have misplaced it...it had a code on it and I told him what it was." The CM then said the problem w/ that is that Disney is having problems with people 'faking' codes they rec'd and they are asking for proof of the actual card/email at check in now. I said well I think I threw it out so he said just tell them that at check in.

So he verifies my name and all (not sure if he was checking to see if I had the 'code' under my name) and then we went ahead w/ the reservation.

At first I didn't think I got the discount as I was quoted $2800 for 7 nights Polynesian, 7 day base ticket w/ hopper, and dining plan. But he then quoted without the three letter code and it was $4000. :scared1:

So, I still don't know if I had the code under my name in the system and I haven't received the postcard yet or if the CM is nice and took the code for me. I think I'm going to rebook to a moderate to save money since $2800 is a bit much still..or only go for 5 days and stay at Poly.

I still can't believe I saved $1200!!

Good luck to everyone!!!

the postcards do not have the code on them. they have the pin. the pin gives you access to the code. they have the code. (and your pin to match it up).

Oh, so that probably means I had the pin in the system?

I'm so confused with this codes, pins, etc. :confused3

Good For You!!!! How many people is that for?

2 people. Should I keep that reservation? I was hoping to spend something like $900 a person but I've been wanting to stay at Poly for so long and this seems like a deal too good to be true. I might rebook for 4 nights/5 days to cut the price down.

code - the three letters the cm puts into the computer to tell it which deal you are getting if other than rack rate...think of other hotel/airline/rental car ressies online where there is a place to enter the discount code you might have.

Pin - the set of numbers that allows you to access a Pin Code.

Pin Code - a code that is only accessible by a Pin

PostCard/Email - Disney's method of Letting you know you have a Pin for a Pin Code. It contains information about the deal and the Pin but does not actually contain the Pin Code.

Think of the "deal" as your bank account. Your bank account is identified by an account number (the code, in this case the Pin Code). To access this account from an atm (think CM or online system) you need your Pin number (Pin).

Apparently the public isn't given the Pin Code since giving the Pin automatically accessess the Pin Code.

I' am booked for All Star Movies. I booked from Dec 18th - January 4th/ 08
Total cost 2207.27 would have been, with the 40% off for 14 days I get it for $1047.00 ! So I saved 1150.00 not bad for 17 nights ! I chose value resort because with cheaper rate, I can stay longer. We are hardly in the room and only to sleep, it made sense to stay in a Value Resort! I am very happy Disney selected our family and received that email!

This is our first time staying on site. Without this code, I couldn't have afforded this at that many days.

checking in on dec 18th puts you in value season. I dont know if you are talking about a package or not but either way the value of your discount is the exact same - 40% off the total cost of your room. Value season in asmo for a standardor preferred room is 82 or 94. 14 nights at this rate with tax would be 1297.24 or 1487.08. 40% off of that gives you a savings of 518.90 or 594.83.

17 nights at the 82 per night gives you a total of 1575.22. So i'm assuming your original price was a package. The new total you have looks like a room only. since if you add up the 14 nights at 40% off and the 3 nights rack rate, you get your new quote....

if we never receive the postcard the CM told us about how can we be charged extra??? To be clear we never ASKED for the code. The CM told my DH right away that we had a code in our name that she would apply to our ressie. So they'd better not try to add more money on our package if I don't have the postcard. Our PO here is not the best and many things have gone 'missing' because of sticky fingers. I can easily see someone snagging that postcard and keeping it in hopes of getting the discount, kwim?

I called this AM and spoke to a very nice CM. I told her that I wanted to make a room only ressie. After telling her my dates, she looked them up (12/22-1/02 and said Pop Century had rooms available. I then said I wanted to use the "code" and she said , "let me look it up". She then told me they have so many codes out there that they cant keep up with them. I told her it was the 40% off code and gave her teh letters. She entered them in and quoted me my price of $77/night, and with tax it was $86/night. The reason is b/c I am checking in during Holiday/Peak season not Value season.

ANyway she never asked for a PIN. IT was pretty simple really. So if you dont get a CM who can give you the code, keep trying.

My only regret is that I cant check in a few days earlier and get teh Vlaue Season rate.

Hope that helps.

I am so :confused3 . I emailed my TA today and asked if I change my dates could I get the new codes XXX or XXX? She replied that I HAD to have a pin code in order to get this discount, she also told me that if I tried to book without a pin code, that upon check in they could charge me full rack rate.

It seems that there are a number of differing opinions regarding these codes. I don't know what I should do, or if I should call CRO and find out for myself.

I think that sounds like a good deal! We have 2A, 2K, 8 day WYW + Fun and dining, Animal Kingdom bunk-bed pool view for 7 nights: $3291.

I don't know. I guess noone knows how they'll ultimately handle all of these reservations made without a PIN. However, I wouldn't be comfortable risking it and here's why - when my reservation last year was accidentally made using a code I shouldn't have had access to, Disney had the CM call me back to inform me that I couldn't use that code and would have to pay rack rate. Who knows if they'll call everyone this time around since there are so many?

My take is this. People will do what they want and heaven knows there are several stories out there, all given by CMs. BUT, I'd have to book this knowing that I might be charged full price at checkin. I'm not comfortable with that possibility, especially if, say, I booked a resort that was affordable only with the code, so I wouldn't do it. Ethics aside, it's not within my comfort zone. If someone's going to be fine if the CM at checkin says "Sorry, but it's full price" then that's not an issue for them. :)

My feeling is, if Disney is indeed gong to deny the price with the code, they're going to have to call.

Imagine all the problems they'd be having at checkins this year with this code fiasco. It would cause too many scenes.

My dd was running aroud with the card this morning playing "spin the wheel." Looks like I'll have to put that card in a safe deposit box for a year until our vacation!! :)

I'm going to have to read the fine print to see if it states on there that it is required at check-in.

:confused3 I am a little confused but mostly jealous we didn't receive a discount postcard!:sad1:

I received the 40% discount mailing.......well, it came to my address but with my father-in-laws name on it. He went to Disney with us once 3 1/2 years ago. Would I still be able to receive the discount since it is associated with my address??

Is the 40% discount just good on value resorts? My actually states value but I thought I'd read where some dis'ers had used it at moderate resorts as well.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

It seems unlikely that they will require anyone to bring proof of a pin code at check in. Reasons why:
1. Some people who did have a pin code attached to their household never actually received any notice of the offer via snail mail or email. Therefore, they couldn't bring anything in with them.
2. There are a high number of people who have never been told they need to bring proof of it...and since the offer doesn't state it's required to bring at check in, there'd be no reason for them to bring it.

As someone else mentioned, it would just cause chaos at check in. Disney would really need to take care of thisbefore check in...and preferably before the 45 day point.

All that said, let's remember to relax with the speculation. CMs are still giving different stories, and no one has received a phone call yet about the cancellation of the code, therefore, we need to sit back and wait, as hard as that is.
