My experience calling today for reservations

I called for our trip this morning...We too are arriving on Friday 12/12....
We were able to get everything we wanted :cool1:

I was worried about Chef Mickeys but we had no problem getting the date and the exact time we wanted ::yes::

I am so glad that this portion of the planning is done...Now I need to rest :goodvibes

Cool, yay!!!!!!!!!:cool1:
I guess because we wanted Chef Mickey's on the first day that limited my available times, if it was at the end of our week maybe not as many people would have gotten to that day yet???

Congrats!!!!! Thankfully I remembered to unset my first alarm that was for 6:45 this morning, lol. I had set it as soon as I woke up yesterday to make sure I'd be up in time to call!
I had to get up at 5:45am! Central time here, and I had to work today anyway.
My husband (loves food!!!!!!) spent a lot of time making me read menus to him that I found on All Ears thanks to you guys!
Do what I do and print them off!!! :rotfl2:

We are also going to Boma, Sci-Fi, Crystal Palace and Teppan Edo. It would be fun to see if we have the same time for Japan, sitting at the grill with someone we "knew"! I think we are going on Dec 17.

Yay!:cool1:

Oh, no! I check in on Friday, Dec 12th, too!!!!! I better go!

I counted 180 days back on a calendar and came up with 05/25. When I found this board (before my day to call, thank goodness), the calculator let me know to call 05/24. Im not sure if its me, or you can call 181!!! Glad to see other people were a day off too.

Can't believe it is getting worse. I made our reservations for August at 180 days out and had no problems although it was before free Dining had been announced.

Of course when you think about the number of people that visit WDW every day and the number of table service restaurants there are it is no surprise.

9 months out is not the answer. More restaurants is.

We arrive on December 12 and while I was initially worried after hearing ADR horror stories the past week or so, I got right in at 7am EST and was able to get everything we wanted, including Le Cellier for lunch and Chef Mickeys & CRT for breakfast! I had a great CM and I was finished within 15 minutes. For those of us whose 180+10 window was yesterday (6/15), I think we had a bit of an advantage because I think many people don't realize that Disney dining takes ADRs on Sundays!

ETA: I really hope they don't go to a 9-month window to book ADRs. We have a hard enough time deciding what we want to eat 6 months out! :teeth:

We are arriving on Dec. 18th but aren't eating TS until the 19th. What day do I make ADR's on, June 21 or 22?

I think you make it from the day you check in, like if you were not on the dining plan and only wanted a meal your last (10th) day you could do it on the day for when you check in. So do it on the earlier day, is what I'm saying. It goes by your check-in date, that's what the lady was trying to tell me on the phone only she miscalculated what that day actually WAS!

ITA, the solution isn't 9 month reservation, I think it should be 30 days, for reservations!

Well this isn't dining but I just made a Caribbean Pirate Adventure reservation (for the cruise for kids, not sure about the name 100%?) and this being the day after my window opened for real there were NO SPOTS in any of the 11:30 cruises the whole week, wow! So we got a 9:30 on the day we arrive, good enough I guess!

I am planning my family trip now in June for Sept. I never thought I would have to make plans that far in advance for resturants. Again thank you

Before I make dining ressies do I need to have the DDP on my resort reservation?

When I made the resort reservation I was more concerned about that then the DDP (since we're still debating about that because a couple of the days we'll be there DH wants to go to Universal & Sea World.)

Thanks!

Today is my 180 days as we check in 12/13. I thought for sure I would have a hard time getting everything I wanted from what alot of people have been posting for December :rolleyes1. But I got EVERYTHING without having to change times and/or dates :woohoo: :woohoo:. I am so excited....this is what we got:

12/13 - Wispering Canyon @ 6:20 p.m.

12/14 - Ohana @ 5:05 p.m.

12/15 - Cape May Cafe @ 9:55 a.m. & Le Cellier @ 6:05 p.m.

12/16 - Kona @ 5:10 p.m.

12/17 - Boma @ 9:15 a.m. & Yachtsman Steakhouse @ 5:30 p.m.

12/18 - Ohana @ 9:10 a.m. & Cape May Clambake @ 6:00 p.m.

12/19 - Grand Floridian Cafe @ 5:30 p.m.

12/20 - Wispering Canyon @ 8:05 a.m.

Good luck to everyone waiting for their 180 days to make their ADRs ::yes::. Here's to getting everything you want pixiedust: pixiedust:.

9 MONTHS! :scared1: It's hard enough trying to plan 6 mos. ahead coordinating park days with meals. This ADR thing has gotten completely out of hand. There must be a better way.

The big problem with 9 months though is that Disney only posts their hours, EMHs so on 6 months in advance. There is no way anyone can plan ahead of time not knowing this information. :confused3

I am at the night month time now and not knowing all that information like I said would really make it impossible for me.

That's exactly what I was thinking! We plan our days around EMHs, so I would not want to book ADRs before knowing that information.

I, too, miss the days when you could walk around Epcot and say, "Hey, feel like going to Alfredo's for dinner tonight?" and being able to get in!

No you do not need to have your DDP on your reservation..They will ask you if you are on the dining plan when you call to make ADR...You can say no...Then decide later that you want it...No need to call back to tell them that you now have the plan...It makes no difference....When you get the bill after eating you give your card then...Most of the time a server will ask if you are on the plan at the start but some don't...Again, does not matter....

Just make sure you have the plan added to your reservation before arriving for your trip...You cannot add the plan once you arrive...I believe you must have it on your reservation at least three days before you arrive...Although it may be a week...Any case, if you want it make sure you put in on way before you arrive.

Thank you! I was having a brain freeze or something and just couldn't remember. :rotfl: Guess I'm really a blonde afterall!

I do know I can't add it once we arrive and we'll most likely will be on the DDP - just gotta get DH to say yes.

Thanks again!!
