My ebay rant.. I'm heartbroken

I recently sold a handmade quilled chess set on ebay, I was so excited. It went for $100! Woo hoo! Of course, what I have to say here is that it took me a solid month of evenings making it, working on it for at least a couple of hours every night.
The same person then went and bought a snowflake from me at a different auction a week later, after I had already mailed the first item. Didn't even realize it was the same person at first.

Then it happened. Not so happy anymore. I received the chess set back in the mail with a HUGE "REFUSED" on it. I emailed her, I hadn't shipped the snowflake yet. I asked if there was a problem. She replied, no..whatever do you mean? Refused? I didn't refuse it. I confirmed her address. She then says to me.. have you mailed the snowflake yet? And I said.. no I haven't, it's going out tomorrow because I had to add the gemstones you wanted. She asks if I can combine shipping on the two items and refund her some of the shipping costs. I explain that I am happy to combine them, but instead of a refund on shipping would she accept another snowflake instead? I figured this way it wouldnt' cost me anything, I have a bunch of the snowflakes made up for a craft show I'm doing soon. She replies that would be wonderful and blah blah blah. Ok... so I'm a sap... I should have realized this and checked her other auctions to see what else she was buying. (She has PERFECT feedback by the way)

Fast forward to today when I get a message from paypal that my account is in dispute because she hasn't received the item. I check my delivery confirmation and lo and behold she received it today. I emailed her to ask what was going on. I get no reply. I check my ebay account and she left me 2 blistering negatives. I'm a new seller, I only have about a dozen total feedbacks. She said my work was hideous and that I told a bunch of lies and that i shipped it without any packing causing it to be ruined. hello? can you even do that? I had packaged the chess set in a case that had separate compartments to keep the pieces safe, I used bubble wrap for it and tissue in a priority box!
So I emailed her back and asked that she return it.It was insured so I know that I can file a claim if it's truly damaged. I will give the witch a refund if I get it back, it was a LOT of work. (Oh yeah... I threw in 2 snowflakes for the bleepety bleep bleep just to be nice!)
Now, here's the thing. She has been buying quilling supplies, and I think she only bought mine because she wanted to see how it was made.
I know I don't have any recourse but holy cow, I'm so upset and everyone is sleeping at my house. Here is a link to see the chess set and a link to the snowflakes. Threse aren't active ebay items so I hope it's ok to post them. Please tell me, am I wrong? They aren't really hideous are they?

Oh yeah!!! My paypal account is still frozen because of her claim! Since I have the tracking number do you know when they will release it?

In NO way are they hideous....they look like alot of time and hard work went into them,,both the snow flakes and the chess game,,,,they is just no accounting for some people...we had a guy saying he sent a money order for an item we sold on e-bay...it never came,,he kept insisting for over 3 weeks,,that he sent out one, then another,,,,and to think this was all in an attempt to just be a PAIN IN THE ***, my SO just didnt want to believe he was just messing around,,,,finally we just relisted it,,, I am sorry this happened,,,but i am sure you will have NO problem selling it again.. I hope you left her neg feed back also,,stating what she did,,,

I went to look at your chess set and snowflakes. They are both stunning! I am sorry that I can't help you with ebay advice because I steer clear of ebay. I just wanted you to know that she was full of poo when she said they were ugly. You do excellent work!

Thank you! Just having someone else say that they are nice made me feel a lot better. I don't think I'll be selling on ebay again anytime soon. I'm still so upset.

You didn't give her feedback yet did you??? This is yet another example as to why I ALWAYS leave feedback AFTER the buyer... Personally, I would light her up with a few negatives as she seems to be sitting pretty with a 100%. Then I would send her a FEEDBACK retraction request. I am sure she wouldn't want her pretty little 100% to be tarnished too long.

BTW they are not hideous... And if they were it doesn't say much more about her tastes then as she bought them from you.

I would reply to her feedback left and explain the packing and that she is full of lies.

I think that they were beautiful too! I had to look closer to see that the chess set was quilled, and not a regular game that you buy. Very detailed, and very pretty. I love the snowflakes. I would be really upset too if someone treated me and my hard work like that. Keep your chin up, I hope things work out ok. :grouphug:

A goodness that is a horrible thing that she did to you! I looked and that chess set is so amazing! I would be scared to touch it because it's so beautiful! I hope everything works out for you!

Kelly,,I just wanted to ad --what a WONDERFUL young lady you have there!!! Making the blankets for homeless children,,,I hope she knows what an ANGEL  she is......God Bless her,,I am sure WARM children do everynight they use their blankets....

can I get the feedback retracted? That would be GREAT! thanks for the input!

Feedback is so annoying! I had a buyer NOT pay for an item, that was over $250 hit me with a neg. Just ridiculous. He said he paid and I never shipped the item. After I relisted it, several weeks later, he offers me $100 for it........ I said, look you already WON this item, send me the price you bid and I will ship it. ARGHHH. (he is in business, and It hink it was an employee who sent the lowball offer). Mine was a sericel (Disney)

I sell for awhile, then take a few weeks off to recover mentally from the weirdos, then go back......

I agree fire off 2 negs and see what happens. I would not refund her any money. I think she's cost you enough pain and suffering and if she's copying your work I sure as heck wouldn't refund her a dime.

Your work is beautiful! I loved the closeups of the chess pieces. I agree that she probably wanted to see how you made the chess set and had no intention of keeping it. Some people really stink!

First off from one quiller to another, these are beutiful! I am in awe of your work.

You need to send your negative feedback, there is no excuse for this. Your work is amazing, and with it being packed the way it was there is no way there could be damaged unless someone jumed on it.

I had a problem with a buyer and she had my account closed as well. Long story short, once I gave the shipping number to paypal, my account was back on that week.

I hope that everything turns out ok for you. And hey if you have patterns for any of your work, post em here! :rotfl:

I wonder if she's trying to discredit you before she starts selling her own stuff. Regardless, she's on crack. That chess set is truly amazing! Makes me wish I played chess :thumbsup2

I noticed a quirky thing on the wierdo's feed back. She has 4 posaitve for the same item number. they are all diffrent comments too. Strange.

I love your work. It's beautiful. I don't know anything about Quilling but looking at your work makes me want to know more.

I agree with the other posters. give her the negative feedback she deserves :thumbsup2

UGGGGHHHH....just comment on the negs the TRUTH - people who are experienced ebayer's will know the truth!!!!! You have 2 more positives right after the negs. BUT...definitely neg her back - she deserves it.

Ebayer's like this piss me off to no end!!

Original poster - your items are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and this buyer is obviously a JERK! Give PayPal the tracking number - they'll most likely immediately remove the block.

NOTE: For the person who pointed out the buyers fb - the last 4 items was a dutch auction that one person bought 4 of, that is why there is 4 comments from one person for one auction because they legitimately bought 4 items.

Don't wait to neg her - but be factual and not nasty in the neg say something like "item shipped on ___(date) wrapped well. Buyer refused then tried changing terms." something on those lines. I also would not put the SAME neg on both because you actually have TWO chances to tell the truth - how about "Photo in listing - offered money back - buyer filed PP claim instead - unfair" or something on those lines. This way you're being factual and if she doesn't agree to remove it (and she might not - after all, we've established she's a jerk!), then you have left facts and buyers like ME (with over 4000 transactions - mostly selling though) wouldn't hesitate to buy from you because you didn't "retaliate", instead you stated facts! :)

Good luck!!!

edited because I can't spell at 5:30 in the morning - lol

I agree with this. Leave factual NEGATIVE feedback, get right to the point. The buyer already looks bad b/c she said that your work is hideous--An obvious LIE. You did a fabulous job on your pieces. :goodvibes

Beautiful set. Just provide Paypal with all the information they request. The shipping and tracking. A detailed explanation of her refusing the shipping. And the fact that it was insured. I don't think they will give her the money and the set. And if she ends up with negatives she might give in to a retraction.
