My DS11 got a package of Ramen Noodles for Trick or Treat!

Last year, we had an older neighbor give the kids canned veggies. She had an assortment for them to chose from, and she offered all of us adults shots of rum! (we declined)

She had been into the rum long before we got there :lmao:

I think the first person at our house put a sign on the door, saying don't bother, they are only giving out bags of pretzels LOL.

Because they called for rain, I had no idea if I would get my usual 100 or so kids, so I wanted to get something that I wouldn't eat if it was left over. Hence the bags of pretzels. We only had 27 kids tonight..a low record for us for sure.

Pretzels are going to the mission with us Tuesday night, where I hope those that come in for dinner will want them (we serve there..we aren't going there for dinner LOL).

I got 75 cents. This lady said she ran out of candy so gave my friend and I money.

Is it odd to give out treat bags filled with candy?:confused3

I bought packs of the little paper bags with Halloween designs on them and put four small candy bars in each one and sealed the bags with Halloween stickers. I gave them to the youngest trick-or-treaters, six-ish and under. I could see inside most of the containers that the kids were carrying around, and none of them had treat bags in them. Some of the kids seemed a bit perplexed, and several asked me what was in the bags.

The first few times I was asked, I said that there were different kinds of candy bars in the bags. But then, I heard several excited kids yell over to their parents that they had bags with special candy in them. I got the feeling they were thinking the bags were filled with some kind of exciting, unknown candy. After that, I just said the bags had candy in them.:rotfl:

Did anyone else's kids get any treat bags tonight? Maybe it's a regional thing and I'm in the wrong region.:rotfl:

My son got a pair of sunglasses. As far as the treat bags go my neighbor makes up a huge bag for my kids. That was the only one they got. When I was younger and lived in NY everyone filled up bags now it's just loose candy.

A roll of toilet paper came home in the bag last night.

I did treat bags and so did at least one of my neighbors...it's always more exciting getting a little bag fill with the unknown!:thumbsup2

Gosh, this would have been really useful here as we just ran out, but as far as Halloween, I would imagine kids wanting to TP that house with it!:rotfl:

Around here, apparently some kids eat ramen straight from the package. One of DD14's friends does this, and got DD hooked on it. It sound sso weird to me. But yesterday, they were going to the state cross-country meet--the bus didn't show up, I offered to drive, Ramen Girl gets in my car, and sure enough, she's snacking on ramen at 7 am! I just thought it was funny.

As to ToT, we only had one neighbor that gave out full-size candy bars. My kids liked that house!

We always get juice boxes every year. DD ends up drinking one before we get home. And also got a Fiber One bar this year. They must have run out of candy. :confused3

I love the TP story!!!

each kid got at least 4-5 treat bags

weird items:
goodie bag with: tooth brush, mini tooth paste, mini flouride rinse (childs), those chewy things that tell you if you have plaque, stickers, and sugar free lollypops. obviously this is our local dentist. you would think the kids would hate it, but they all love it. He had a long line, plus he dresses up like the tooth fairy, male version

one mom gave out mini water bottles, and most kids opened it up and drank it right away. My daughter was so happy, she was thirsty from all the walking.

bible, self explanatory

goodie bag with nail polish, hair elastics, new in package brush and a small mirror. Not sure what they had for other ages, but she had a whole set up. Blue for boys light blue under 10 dark blue over 10. Hot pink over 10 girls, baby pink under 10 girls.

$5 mcdonalds gift cards

I got a rock.... (Where are the Charlie Brown smilies? ;) )

My kids received all the usual things. But DH got a pretty cool treat.. One of the houses gave him and D BIL a top up of the rye and cokes they were toting around ( in their Disney resort cups too, I might add):rotfl2:

My kids got all the usual stuff. DS was in a differentneighborhood than DD and he even got quite a few king size bars.

Our neighborhood always hands out adult treats too. My neighbor had margarita jello and I had jello shots. DH (who walked around) said there was, beer, spiced cidar and test tube shots too.

My kids were disappointed that all they got was chcolate candy bars. It seems that that's all people give nowadays-no variety. No peanut butter taffy wrapped in black or orange, no bottle caps, no pixie sticks, .....mostly just candy and only one piece of bubble gum among four kids!

And also got a Fiber One bar this year. They must have run out of candy. :confused3

We ran out of large candy bars and pulled out a case of wrapped single serving cookies (Oreo, Chips-Ahoy, etc.). These were fresh and I was using them in hubby's lunch. I told him that if we ran out of that we could open a box of chocolate chip Fiber One breakfast bars. Hubby said "no" the lights would be turned off first:rotfl: Guess he had more sense than me.

It started to rain, so I didn't run totally out of cookies. I hope that the cookies weren't odd.

Our cul-de-sac also does a little block party. We don't actually get many kids because the neighborhood parade starts here and then everyone just TOT back toward their house, and don't want to come all the way back here. We have lots of fun getting together with the neighbors and everyone brings an assortment of beverages.;)

DD got a package of Cheese and Chive crackers. Those ones that come like 4 or 6 to a package? She LOVED it! That was the first thing she ate and she thought that was so cool! She also got a mini granola bar that was obviously packaged for Halloween giving. It is about the size of a Fun Size candy with Halloween decorations. I wonder where they got them--I didn't see anything like that in the stores.

She would have loved to get a toothbrush or pencil. That would have seemed very special to her.

First, your Benjamin Button is too cute. :goodvibes

I always fill treat bags to hand out and so does my sister, but I think we are the only ones in the development that do.

I remember one year getting a whole pack of Archway oatmeal cookies.
They were from an eldery man who had no family and I think was lonely, so he enjoyed when the neighbor kids would stop by and visit.

Ramen Noodles! :rotfl: That's hilarious!!!

I love when people give out atypical kinds of treats. My kids seemed to only get candy this year. Some years there's been granola bars, rubber ducks, tatoos, juice boxes. They love that stuff.

I gave out a bag of microwave popcorn, a big Laffy Taffy, a spider, and a few pieces of candy in a big goodie bag. I also had full size candy bars for the kids we know. :goodvibes We do the popcorn every year and the kids love it. Some years I do little bags of cookies or crackers, but I couldn't find them this year.

I'm sad that it's over. I love Halloween.
