And HE picked it out! We have a fun subdivsion, and one cul de sac decided to get together, rope off their circle with a string of orange lights, set up a table with two large buckets of candy, and they had a mini block party while kids came around. That is the way to do it..they were having a great time. Anyway, they tell my boys to take what they want, get a couple of things. Well DS11 fishes around and pulls out a bag of Ramen Noodles! They (and I ) start cracking up, and they say "the kids just love getting the noodles!" And DS keeps it! He thought that was the coolest thing, and I thought it was pretty funny.

I may eat them tomorrow when he's not looking.

Anyone else get anything different than the norm?

:rotfl:I think that's hysterical! My DS14 would love to get Ramen instead of candy any day!
I'll have to show him your post...thanks for sharing! :)

The noodles are cheaper to give out than candy nowadays.

One of my kids got a Halloween CD. I wouldn't think that was odd but my other two kids got candy from the same house and so did all the other kids we were with :confused3
They also get those 1 million dollar bills that pretty much tell them they are going to h e double hockey sticks, but they get them every year ;)

My cousin used to give out Ramen noodles for Halloween. I thought it was funny and pretty cool since I like Ramen noodles.

One year, I got canned pears and oatmeal.

It sounds like they either had nothing else to give or were cleaning out their pantry. If people are going to do that, they should just turn out their lights.

I don't think my kids have ever gotten anything strange for Halloween.

DD9 got a used tennis ball in her stash tonight. Not sure which house it came from since DH actually walked with her.

I gave out individual packets of hot chocolate this year. My friend thought it was weird (maybe she thought I was just being thrifty?) but I put a packet in a bag with a treat size chocolate bar, some chewy candies and a roll or two of rockets. I asked my kids if they would like to receive hot chocolate and they said they would, so I that's what I did.

When the Trick or Treaters received their packages, several of them said "Oh, Awesome!" so I guess it was a hit!

The kids always receive so many bags of chips, etc, this year I wanted something different.

I think that is a great idea! They DO love to see something different go into their bags, I was hearing "Oh Awesome!" when kids were getting micro popcorn bags.

I was emptying out DS9 TOT stash and out popped a small silver key:confused3 We only TOT a few streets but I have no clue who the key would belong to. And if I tried to go out tomorrow I have no clue whose house to even start at.

What would you do with the key??? I would hate to throw it out.

DS9 and DS10 were TOT a few steps ahead of me (I had DS2 and DD6) so I wasn't able to catch it if I could.

I feel terrible that I have someone's key that is probably tearing their house apart trying to find their lost key.

MAYBE DS9 and I should try retracing our steps tomorrow and maybe make a little not saying a key was found in the candy. :confused3

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you near a college town? We were just talking about college trick or treating and how you could get lunch for a few days with te ramon noodles.....

My DD9 got a packet of hot chocolate this year (but all by itself.) She thought it was cool. She also got 3 full-sized chocolate bars - that's a record!

I forget how it started but my DD 22 friend's always begged for Ramen Noodles when they came here. We called then Oddles of Noodles.

I did have to break open boxes breakfast bars this year I ran out of candy. Maybe we got more kid because it is 70 degrees in the Philly area tonight!

Youngest DS got a stapler :confused3 and yes unlike the key it was intentional. It was still in the package. At the same house oldest DS (who went as a very hastily put together soldier) got pencils printed with a camo pattern.
