My Ds has woke up this morning with Chicken Pox

Believe me, you don't!!! My Mum had it as adult in her late 30's and was never fully well again... :sad2:

My two had it over christmas two years ago - eldest DD was two and a half and youngest DD was three months old! Apparently she could get it again:scared1:
I had it bad in my early twenties, it was awful....

I'm so sorry your son will miss out on his birthday tea and his school trips, but in the long run, I think it's for the best (if you know what I mean).
Tip: You can buy a product called Oilatum which my DD used to get on presciption, it's an eczema treatment. Used in the bath its an oily product that keeps the skin soft and supple and helps with the itching, and prevents scaring. :thumbsup2

He had a really restless night last night, and has woke up with even more and a lot on his face and feet:eek:

I have rang the school and it is going around a few in his class have also got it over the weekend:sick:

So its a week in the house for us:hug:

Thanks once again:flower3:

Oh dear hope it doesn't last too long.

I've never had it (or mumps or measles or german measles) and I do worry I will get it in the future.

I am so sorry for your child. Chicken Pox can be so horrible. We had both our boys vaccinated for Chicken Pox (Varicella?). Schools here are noe requiring the vaccine or proof of having had chicken pox. Do you have the vaccine approved for use in the UK yet?

Not that I'm aware of, it's certainly not part of the current NHS (National Health Service) infant vaccination program.
Interesting......

No the vaccine is not available here, which is a shame. There was talk about it at some point last year but that has now fizzled out :confused3 .x.

Hi just for an update my ds is now much better and is no longer infectious, so at least he is back at preschool now and only was only ill for 1 week. now just watching the spots go away, they are disappearing as quickly as they came!

Hi Alex

glad to hear your ds is much better, Adam has still got lots of red spots but I have smothered him in cream and they are not bothering him (hes not scratching) also taken Piriton, the spots started Saturday , how long is it before they do start and go and are not contagious?

Take care

i saw Bens first spots on Mon 25th eve they were definatley not there at lunchtime, and they were all dried up and non infectious by this monday morning so i would say only 6 days, they are no longer infectious when they go hard and scab over, but then they look at their worst! During the day he is fine just gets itchy and irritable at night still.

Hi Kerry,
Normally once the spots start to crust over+the scabs fall off then they are no longer contagious, but to be on the safe side i left my dd off school until all scabs had fallen off.DD had a total of a full 2weeks off school(but then dd was hospitalised with it because of the fit).x.

DD found them very irritating but like you say with Ben she found them more itchy when the scabs were starting to fall off.Glad you did'nt have to cancel/re-arrange Florida.x.

So glad you didnt have to cancel florida:wizard:

That would be such a shame if they were to catch them just before a holiday:eek: At least they have had it before and we can all look forward to the planning our disney holidays:cheer2:
