my ds 8 gb I touch volume dosen't work

if I bought it from apple online on black friday last year was there a warrenty on it if so, can I bring it to an apple store??

My dd has an Ipod that was giving her trouble over the weekend. I'm not sure about the I Touch but we had to "toggle" the lock button a few times and then hold down the menu button and the middle button (I forget what thats called) at the same time for about 10 seconds. It reset and now its fine.
