Monday 24th (Christmas eve)

After a full day at USF yesterday we decided not to do too much today as the boys really do not seem to be able to cope with such busy days. So after yet another breakfast at Ponderosa, we are really starting to look like beached whales at this point, spend a little while going round the Flea Markets on 192 to get a few tacky souvenirs, well we all have to bring things like that home. Don’t we?? Then back to the villa for a while doing the usual in the pool and generally lounging about. After lunch which consisted of the most enormous bag of crisps and other very unhealthy goodies, I decide I would like to go to Down Town Disney for a couple of hours before going to Cirque for the 6pm performance. It was lovely walking down the street, everything seemed so colourful. I wished we had more time so we could do Disney Quest a bit expensive I though but looked like you could spend a good few hours there. We visited all the shops and stopped to watch magic tricks being done. The man was very good. I was tempted to buy all the tricks. We stopped and had a drink by the lake and tried to phone my other children but couldn’t get through. They were skiing in Austria so had to phone my son’s mobile but I just couldn’t get connected . I hadn’t been able to all holiday so wanted to make sure they had got there ok. The boys phoned their dad to wish him a merry Christmas and I found out that the others had got there eventually but had got snowed in in Germany, they were travelling by coach. Their journey had taken 36 hours, and I thought ours was bad enough, but they were there now and thoroughly enjoying themselves so I don’t need worry. By then, it was time to make our way back to Cirque.
The show was absolutely fantastic. All the acts were so different. They ranged from clowns, trapeze, jugglers, and stunts on bikes so many. It’s hard to say which part was best. The trampolines were amazing, there were even little girls doing a diablo act. They must have ranged from about 5 years old upwards. Unfortunately, they dropped the Diablo on the finale but did it again and this time got it right. They got the biggest cheer of the night.
It was Kyle’s choice for tea tonight and he chose Chinese which was handy as there was one near our villa. We had a lovely meal although Aaron didn’t like anything so had a plate of chips!!

Tuesday 25th Christmas Day.

Off to IOA today. Ahh I thought Christmas day, kids up early, I did bring a few pressies with us, we might actually get to a park for opening. But no. Slept in late again opened pressies and headed off to IOA about 9.30. Didn’t think that there would be anything open so planned to eat at the park but hey drove passed Ponderosa and squeals of delight ‘mum Ponderosa is open’ so……… stop off for another leisurely breakfast. Left for IOA at about 10.30.

I think this really was our best day. The boys loved IOA. It didn’t seem to be very busy and headed straight for the hulk. The CM said that it was closed at the moment but they were doing test runs so decided to join the very short queue and wait for a while. It looked like we were in luck. Someone else with a radio came out to talk to the CM but no joy. He said it would be closed for quite a while and it wasn’t worth waiting, with much disappointment we moved on. Spiderman was next went in the single rider lane and got straight on.
All I can say is fantastic, absolutely fantastic.
Next Kyle fancied Dr Dooms Fearfall. I didn’t really like the look of it and Aaron said ‘no way’. I tried to talk Kyle out of it but he was already on his way. Wow what an experience!! Don’t think I’d do it twice.
The weather wasn’t too good, a bit chilly and Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls was next. I really didn’t fancy getting wet this early on in the day so wanted to leave it for later. Dare Devil Kyle wanted to do it now so off he went on his own. Not surprisingly, there was no queue and half the boats were coming down empty. He got soaked, but loved it.
We decided on Duelling Dragons next. Again, Aaron wasn’t too keen but we managed to talk him round. Hardly any queue, about 10 minutes. It was the best coaster ride I had ever been on. You are left feeling really high, a real adrenalin rush.
We grabbed a hot dog from the Lost Continent, which we ate in the rain, huddled under some leaky tent like structures I guess were really meant to keep the sun off rather than the rain.
The boys then fancied going on Spiderman again and didn’t like the look of Poseidon’s Fury so we let them go off on their own while we went in PF. I thought it was quite good. The water thingy at the end was impressive. We met up with the boys again and went back on Duelling Dragon to do the other ride. Again fantastic.
It was still quite wet so we bought plastic macs and then decided to do the wet rides. Back to Ripsaw Falls. Soaked. Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges. Soaked. It was now getting dark but decided to carry on, the park didn’t close until 8pm but was clearing quite quickly I guess because of the weather. We moved on to Jurassic park river Adventure. The drop at the end was unbelievable. I don’t know whether it is pitch black in daylight but was by the time we got on it, it was dark so didn’t see it coming although you knew there would be some sort of a drop. Wowwwwwwwwwww. Mind you, we went on it twice. By now there were no queues at all everything was a walk on. The boys went back on the Barges, Kyle on Ripsaw Falls, twice. Then back for a final couple more goes on Spiderman. By the end of the day I had almost lost my voice I had screamed so much.
4 very weary people somehow made their way back to the car and as the food halls had all closed in IOA had to try and find something to eat. Eventually found a Checkers burger drive through. Ate, went home, fell in to bed.
What a different but wonderful Christmas Day.

Wow - really enjoyed reading this Jayne - we spent Christmas Day in Busch Gardens a couple of years ago and it was quite busy!

Isn't it different being in a Theme Park for Christmas Day? We thought it was fantastic and would love to do it again.

Another great report - thankyou. :)

Aren't those diabolo girls amazing? The audience went wild for them when we saw Cirque, too (without them dropping anything!) - I guess they are the stars of the show. We loved the guys on the trampolines too - I could have watched them all day.

Sounds as though you had a fantastic Christmas Day - I was right there with you! Did you get to do Hulk, or was it closed all day?

Unfortunately Debs the Hulk was closed all day:(

Just another reason to return ;) ;)

Thanks for the wonderful reports - luv reading them!!!
