My dream is be be a DisneyWorld monorail engineer. Does anyone know if Disney hires "cast members" exclusively to oprate the monorail or do they have employees who rotate transportation duties? I'd really like to work at Disney even if it were just for a summer.

Yes, if you are cast in a role in Monorails, that is the only place you will work. However, you may drive some, you may load guests some. Some days you may be at the Epcot Station, some days at the TTC station, some days at the MK station, some days at one of the resort stations, and some days you may be driving. I think most roles at WDW only stay at one position for about an hour. So you may load at MK for an hour, drive for an hour, load at Contemporary for an hour, etc.

That was my dream job too... to become a Monorail Pilot.

It was a fun job... You rotate between platform (75%) and driving (25%).

*confused*

OP wrote "DIVE the monorail" in the subject line..... lol

Personally, alot of my friends have told me I am going to drive a bus at WDW when I retire.... not sure that is what I want to do.... maybe drive a boat! Time will tell. I only have like 20 years before I retire from teaching!

My dream is to drive the monorail - but then override the safety, supercharge the engines, and start flying around on the track at 100+ MPH.

Of course, I always have somewhat strange dreams when going to bed after eating too much pizza.

So, while Disney is trying to make dreams come true...how do I apply for the Monorail Pilot job and what kind of experience and appearance are they looking for? I'm really serious about landing this job. Would they hire me full time/ part time, year-round/summer/temporary?

Call the Walt Disney World Casting line to make an appointment... 407-828-1000

You must be over the age of 18, posess a valid drivers license, be able to pass a criminal background check, and have some common sense. Your appearance must meet the Disney Look -- No facial hair (aside from a neatly trimmed moustache), no visible tattoos, and dressed nicely.

Thank you so much for the information. I will call the number but was told I had to fly to Florida to be interviewed so this is quite an investment for me. Although I would love to be part of the Disney family, I'm not ready to move year-round to Florida. I would really like to spend the summer there however. Do you think I could get a "summer job" even though I am not a student?

Worth a phone call... I saw a post on another message board that Disney has 3500 job openings right now and is looking for all the help they can get!

You will need to interview in person, and have a local address in order to be considered for the position, even for just the summer.

You say you need a local address. Does 6-months worth of Ft. Wilderness reservations count as a local address??
