My Dream Came True--I'm Going To Work For Disney!!!

Congrats on your new job. I'm going to move this to our happy dance board.

What a wonderful story! It just goes to show you that whatever you put your mind to, you can achieve it. Congratulations!

Congrats! I wonder if we will be in the same Traditions class, I just got hired Friday as a reservations cast member at the call center in Tampa. I was actually at the Magic Kingdom when they called me to let me know I got it!

I'm so happy for you! I know exactly how excited you feel right now...

Oh, wow, that's awesome! So glad you got hired, too. :) And what a fun place to be when you found out. :) I don't have my exact date in front of me right now, but I know it's the second week in Oct. It'd be neat if we were in the same class.

This is so AWESOME! I'm so excited for you, it was a long journey, but worth the trip!!!

Yay!! You are livng the dream. Congratulations-I hope you love your new job. :)

Congratulations, so happy everything worked out the way you hoped it would!!! I worked for a Disney Store in La. and was part of the grand opening team and it was the most fantastic experience!! I was going to apply to work there for the summer that year but I met my hubby and well, it never happened, but that's okay, he was worth it! 15 years later I still think about the "what if" I had applied, would I have gotten it? Congrats again!!

My father always had this saying, "life is all about the way you handle Plan B", and you know what, your Plan B sounds wonderful!!! I think a lot of people are stuck somewhere, and you overcame and had the courage to reach for your dreams. I am sure it was scary at times. Congratulations to your whole family!

This is such an amazing story! Congrats to each of you and the best of luck as your journey continues!!!:goodvibes

Congratulations! How wonderful for your family to be close to each other, and you get to work in the Happiest Place on Earth! Definitely post on your adventures as a CM!:worship:

I want to thank everyone for the congratulations on becoming a CM. :) I'm so excited to be a part of the Disney family, and I'll keep everyone updated on my adventures as a CM. Can't wait to start making the magic happen!

Dreams really do come true! I've always wanted to work for Disney, and now it's a reality. :) Here's how it all came about--forgive the long post. :) This all started in the spring of last year, 2010. We've been a Disney family since my hubby and I got married. My daughter practically grew up at Disney. We'd make the trek from Indiana, where we lived, two-three times a year. Still, I always hoped I'd be able to move to Florida when we retire and work for the mouse. That was many years away, still. :) My hubby worked for a small electronics company for over twenty years and the business was getting slower and slower. We both feared the store would up and close one day. I worked part-time retail--nothing exciting. My daughter, who would be starting her senior year last fall, was making plans for college and really wanted to go to UCF, major in event management with hopes to work for Disney, but there was no way we could afford out of state tuition.
Well, I couldn't sleep one night and just started thinking. Hmmm...I want to work for Disney, daughter wants to go to UCF and work for Disney, hubby wants a new job and loves for us to fish together. Why not, I thought? Let's do it! Hubby worked really hard to get a job at a major electronics retailer in Florida and was able to start a little over a year ago in Jacksonville. I stayed back in Indiana for the last year, sold the house, and let my daughter finish her senior year of high school with her friends. She applied and got accepted to UCF. :)
After she finished high school, we moved down with hubby. He had been transfered to Gainesville at that point. He really strived for an Orlando store and got it in August, right when DD started college at UCF. Since he had been a Florida resident for over a year, she was able to get in state tuition. Yay!
As soon as we got our apartment in Winter Garden, I applied online for a job at Disney. They emailed me three weeks later for an online interview, which I passed, and they called me in the next day for an in person interview at Casting. I was offered the job right then. I will be in merchandise at the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have my Traditions class the second week in October, and then I'll go on to training from there. I'm still pinching myself that it all came together. It was a big sacrifice for hubby and I to be apart for a year, but it was important to us for DD to finish high school with the friends she had grown up with. :) The entire hiring process made me feel really special. I can't wait to start! Guess where I'll be spending my days off? :)

How wonderful for you and your family!!!!! You will love it! I loved living in Florida and my dream is to do exactly what you are doing! I wish you the best of luck!:woohoo:

Thank you! I absolutely love living here and the fact that I will be working for the mouse only makes it better. I hope you make your dream come true, too. :)

Congrats for you!!!! You will definitely have to let us all know how your Traditions class is, and how it is working at AKL.

I plan on moving out to Orlando when I retire and working at WDW. I would love a job at the Emporium on Main Street. :)
