It seems insignificant with the hurricane coming down in Florida, but since you all seem to have a soft spot for pets, I thought I'd mention it.
Ranger is my 5 year old Golden. Tuesday he threw up twice (maybe more, but only twice after I got home from work and I didn't find anything else). Yesterday he threw up two more times. It was (turn away if you have a weak stomach) all yellow bile and all slimy--very hard to clean up, just dripped right out of the paper towels. He was also drooling a lot and drinking water, but not eating that I could tell.
I called the vet and they said to take him off food until today and give him only mild food today. My mom came and picked him up (I was at school) and made him some rice, but he wouldn't eat it and threw up twice at their house too. She took him to my vet and I met her there right after school. The vet thinks it's Kennel cough, which is kind of like strep for dogs. He had a slight fever. He's on an antibiotic and another pill to stop the vomiting.
Poor guy, he is all nervous, doesn't like being sick. I was just so worried it was that thing where the stomach gets kinked up, I'm kind of glad it's just something to treat with antibiotics!
The bad thing is he spent a few hours with Mom's dog, and if it's contagious she will get it--and they are dogsitting my sister's dog this weekend too, so she might get it as well.
I wish I knew where my dog got it--he hasn't been to the groomer in a month, and is a house dog.
