she loves to sleep in the tub. I guess it's cool and she fits perfectly, but with a whole house, I don't get it.

We once had a dog who used to "use the tub" if he had to have an accident when we were gone!

I'm not sure it that's convenient or just gross. :teeth: At least it would easy to clean.

we trained Jazzy to use the tub if she had to throw up when we lived in our old house.

now she just nails the hardwood floors

she likes to go in our tub and lick it...something about the soap...

our dog doesn't like the tub much right now...lol...she's not a fan of the bathtimes that she associates the tub with!

our cat, however, LOVES to sit in the tub after it's been drained after a bath or a shower. she'll sit in there...get her behind all wet...and then sit on the carpet, leaving big wet spots on the floors! weird cat...

That is just too funny. That would put a smile on my face everytime I saw it.
:D

My dog doesn't really like the tub, but he does other strange things, like defend his household by barking ferociously at inanimate objects such as bookshelves, desk lamps, table fans (that are not even turned on!) and trash barrels.

I just shake my head.

He's also a supposed to be a "hunting dog". He is a Jack Russell. Anyway, he is terrfied of cats and small mammals and pays no attention to birds. He does however really enjoy plants. He stops to smell every flower he passes by. He's quite the little botanist.

She is smart.

It's her little, cool,, protected on all sides safe space.

Our bathroom isthe coolest room in the house in the summer. Dog will go in there and lie down on the vent.

He'd NEVER go in the tub, tho, he's water shy.

I read about a golden retriever once that would go in to the bathroom, shut the door, climb in the tub when it stormed, LOL.

herc.

Animals are so amazing. Sometimes I don't think we give them enough credit.

I am a pet lover!!!!

LOL, Maxie's not shy about water at all. She loves it. I once had a kiddie pool and she spent more time in it that the girls.
If the water in her bowl is not fresh enough she'll have me turn on the water in the tub and she'll drink away, and jump out when she's done.
She loves the towel and the blow dryer too.

Esmeralda, I can just picture your doggie sniffing all those plants and storing them in his memory for his book. :teeth:

Thanks for all the fun stories!

I've got a mini dachshund - no way could she get in the tub with those short little legs!! :p

She does like to smell pretty! If I spray perfume she'll roll around on the carpet until she smells pretty too!

for those with dogs that don't like the tub - do they avoid ALL water?

Jazzy will break her own neck to get into my in-laws' pool (it's a gunnit - cement - pool so she can swim in it without tearing a liner)

we can't keep her out of the pool...she'll swim, get out, pee on the concrete, jump back in, swim some more, get out, pee again. hehehe she LOVES swimming! we play catch with her in the pool...one time we even got her to relax on her own water raft! heheh

we took her for a walk once and she bee-lined it for a nearby pond. whoo-hoo was she a stinky gross girl when she got out.

stinkerbelle, your doggie is such a cutie. :)

Neat, Esmerelda. I've thought about getting a Jack Terrier if I ever decide to get another dog (right now our lifestyle doesn't really allow for one, plus I've got my hands full already with 3 cats). They're such handsome dogs.

my former cat Smokey, used to sleep in the bathroom sink. He weighed 16 pounds, so he filled the whole thing up. His brother Tiger, would run for the kitchen sink everytime we turned the kitchen faucet on. Sometimes we would just leave it on a trickle so he could drink and play with it. They both liked to drink the water in the tub around the drain.

Not sure how he'd react to cats. Check for one who is used to cats. We took in a foster cat for a few days while we were waiting to place him in a permanent home. The cat scared our dog to death but she also beat him up pretty bad. She was kind of a nasty cat though and he is a very unusual JRT. I've heard most JRTs will go after cats and anything else.

Check with the person you get the dog from to make sure your dog will be okay with the cats.

JRTs are great dogs. They have such personality, they are very , very smart and easy to train but they are also very strong willed and HYPER!!!

Did I say hyper??? :hyper: :hyper:

They are SO hyper. :) They are handsome though. Mine is my baby. He's such a lap dog too. If I'm sitting watching tv or something he HAS to get all his toys, and jump up on my lap with them and he will just sit there. He sleeps with us at night. He's the most fun and loving dog I have ever had.

:) I don't know if I could ever pick a different breed. :)

Duncan can't get in the tub, it's separate from the shower, but he does love the shower. Here's a couple pics...

He also insists on a water bowl in the bathroom. One night I got home late, and DH was out, and I jumped in the shower. Duncan kept whining and I thought maybe he doesn't have water downstairs. I remembered feeding him, but not checking the water. So I grabbed a little plastic tub and filled it with water and he was happy. Only, he had plenty of water downstairs. But now he comes in the bathroom with me EVERY TIME and gets all huffy if the plastic tub doesn't have water. Now he's even following DH in. Silly pup.
