I am so sorry you are going thru this again so soon.....5 years is too young.....we had our golden cremated in June and spread his ashes at the cottage right along the lake where he used to torment the bull frogs! Sometime the memories will bring smiles instead of tears and you'll be so thankful that you were able to treat him humanely. You are doing the right thing at the right time, even though it is extremely difficult....Hugs to you guys and your son.....:(

So sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. It's always hard to lose them.

I'm so sorry. Hugs to you and your family. Ranger died at home with those he loved, that must have been a comfort to him. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.:sad1: :rose:

I am so sorry for your loss! :(

Sounds like Ranger was a very lucky dog to have people like you and your family. We love our animals so much that when they die,our hearts ache so bad. You'll remember him always and at some point, the image of a sick dog will be replaced by the happy memory of him chasing rabbits and making you smile. I can tell you are a person with much to give an animal. A dog deserves you and all that love!

So sorry about Ranger....I am glad he was home when he went to The Rainbow Bridge....

I am the "mommy" to a field red golden named Brady.
He is 91/2 and starting to slow down a little. I totally understand your emotions and share your grief at this sad, sad time for you and your family.

Please know that it is okay that you were in the laundry room. Dogs have such good hearing. He knew that you were right there.

I am certain that your friend, your fur-child was happy and relaxed as he passed BECAUSE you WERE in there.

How many times has he laid nearby while you did the laundry, mopped a floor, paid bills, emptied the dishwasher, and on an on for all the little chores you did while he kept you company?

Since you said you have kids, it is probably many hundreds. How comforting for him to be at HOME and hearing familiar sounds in the background instead of the noisy atmosphere of the animal hospital. I'll bet he justed sighed and drifted off, knowing that he was safe at home with his mommy.

When the time is right, you will know it and the right dog will help you find him.

Hugs to you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I sat here and cried as I read your posts. I had to put my beagle down at age 6 due to disc problems in his back. It was one of the worst days in my life. I know what you are going through and my heart bleeds for you. As with any loss, it does get better over time. I have a picture of my dog in a frame with the "rainbow bridge". I hope it helps. My sympathies to you and your family during this difficult time.

Robin, I am so sorry. My heart aches for you and your family. I can't imagine losing Lilo, although I know that we eventually will.
You are in our thoughts.
