My dog has intestinal blockage : UPDATED ( NOT GOOD )

I can't beleive I'm writing this, I'm so numb and in shock, my sweet baby died during surgery this morning, she had a twisted bowel and didn't make it. My God. I have always read other post where peoples pet have died but it's my baby this time, I don't know what I'm going to do without her, I loved her so much, everything in this house speaks of her, my GOD, my GOD NO.

I know all about losing pets. My grandma lost her 3 year old dog last year. I've lost plenty of cats and numerous fish, not to mention a bird and a rabbit. I'm losing a dog that I've known all my life at the moment. He's about 13 years old. He's the best dog I've ever meet and known. So if you need support, I'm always open

There seems to be lots of reports of torsion or bloat on the boards right now...

My own disdog cost us over $1500 last year when she ate an ace bandage.

Luckily all she needed was fluids and a barium treatment for it to come through but she would've needed surgery if it was stuck any longer.

I'm not sure if you can but try to recover during your vacation....

My dog (yellow lab who was basically a canine garbage disposal) ate a bunch of my daughter's underwear and they became lodged. He had to have surgery. The total vet bill came to about $3000. He would have died without the surgery.

We adopted him from a shelter and after the vet opened him up he told us the dog had the surgery once before and he wouldn't survive if he had to have it again (we had no idea about past history). This dog was unreal - he actually ate the shells from two lobsters once!

Sadly, we lost him about 4 months later to cancer (ironically enough - he died as my daughter and I were on our way to Disney and our sons were at summer camp - my poor dh had to deal with the whole thing on our own - we just didn't see it coming).

My entire heart goes out to you because I know EXACTLY what you're going through. People tell us we were crazy to spend the money on the dog - we didn't know for sure how old he was (vet believed he was about 8-9 years old). We've since adopted another yellow lab (also an older dog) who's lumpy and I'm sure won't be with us for long. We just love them so much.
