Here we go again!
I was going through our hurricane kit because there are canned goods and things that are now 2 years old.....
Noticed my dog nearby, licking his nose a lot. Sure enough, he had found a battery and had chewed it enough that black stuff was spewing all over my carpet, and he's licking his nose frantically!!!!!!!!!!
I fed him some milk and some vegetable oil. We just hecked out his tongue and mouth, and there are no visible burns. We're watching him closely while we decide whether or not he needs to go to the vet!
Just when you think your dog has eaten everything.....

Boy does this bring back memories.... Years ago our lab ate the bedroom TV remote control (the same dog who ate wall board, masonite siding, carpet, you get the picture) We came home to find him laying on the bed with the TV blaring (the crunching must have turned it on) and the remote in pieces around him.... looked like he'd had a little trouble turning the TV on to watch
. We couldn't find the batteries from it, called the vet and they had us bring him in for stomach x-rays. They were concerned that stomach acids would eat away at the outer covering of the battery and end up causing the "battery acids" to get into his system. The vet still laughs about this episode - Pluto was well known at their practice

I guess I should be thankful that our dog just chews on her dog bed and both of our dogs will chew up pencils that are left on the floor.
