We have an almost 12 year old weimaraner- best dog EVER! BUT- if there is even a BIT of dampness on the deck, forget it- she is NOT going out. You open that door and she backs up about 4 feet. "You want me to go out in THAT?" Seriously, it's not even raining right now, but the deck is wet so she won't go out. It's not because she's old either- this dog has always hated the water. Eventually her bladder will get the best of her and she'll go out....

I admit to walking them outside with an umbrella on occasion.
Funny thing is, she will not go out if it's raining, but if it snows, she loves it. Not only that, but as the snow is melting, she will only pee if one of her paws is touching snow. There might only be one little patch of snow left on the entire block, but she won't go until she's touching it.

We have a 9 year old black pug named Beau and an 8 year old fawn pug named Armani. Armani is the same way and has made it 24 hours during some of the times when we had the hurricanes in the past.
