My Disneyland dining reviews, with pictures

I was so excited for the taro bread. Ours didn't have any filling in it! Just icing drizzled. It was like eating kings hawaiian rolls with Taro icing. Very dissatisfied. Yours looks delicious, I should have taken it back.
That's wild! I'm glad I took a picture of the inside of our taro bread for you to see.

They had a similar cheese bread for the holidays and, when we had it (towards the end of the holiday season), it was basically Kings Hawaiian rolls with a drizzle. We couldn't figure out what all of the hype was about. Sounds like they need some quality control in that kitchen.

How was the snack size Monte Cristo? It would be great if they had that all the time!

I thought it was very good. The one on the side was strawberry, the top (blue) was vanilla, and the large was chocolate with a banana core.

We rarely eat in SWGE so it was an impulse purchase. It was plated nicely. I don't like Disneyland's fake white chocolate which, to me, seems waxy. On this dish, the candy covering was not waxy. The mousse was richer & firmer than The Grey Stuff at Red Rose.

Catching up on photos I haven't shared.

How was it?
My adult kids think it is the best thing in the parks. I thought it was meh. The outside was warm and toasty but the pineapple was very cold. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that way or if we got a dud.

For what it is worth, my kids also like the cheesy garlic pretzel bread which is an extremely popular item. I think that is meh as well.

Thanks! Curious to check it out now - will put a mental note to order that soon!

Classic Cheeseburger with coleslaw instead of fries and a Strawberry pickle lemonade.

The burger was about as basic as it could be. The burgers were better before the updated menu. It's not as bad as Galactic Grill, but close to that bad.

While I'm not particularly fond of pickles, I wanted to try the drink. It was surprisingly good. I would get it again. The pickle is just enough to cut the sweet without actually tasting like pickle juice.

Oh Carthay Circle, I so much want to love you, but your service is just so darn inconsistent.

Last week they introduced a new menu. We noticed it on the website and were excited to try the new items. However, when we were seated, the menu didn't match the new menu that was posted online. The server said they don't match because the new new menu started on Friday. Huh? It has now been four days and the menu on the app still doesn't match the menu in the restaurant. On top of that, when I checked in, I was provided a link that directed me to look at their menu prior to arriving. The link took me to the new menu on the app but not the new new menu that they are actually serving.

For those who are planning on visiting soon, below is the menu they are serving.
We asked our server how the Fritto Misto was prepared and he looked over my shoulder and basically read the menu description to me. 🙄

Here is the dessert menu.

1743464290882.png

We asked our server to tell us what a baklava "carrot cake" cheesecake was. He said that it was basically carrot caked shaped like cheesecake. :rotfl2:Are carrot cake and cheesecake shaped differently?

This is what we received. It was cheesecake on top of a carrot cake crumble (which is probably why carrot cake was in quotes). The phylo dough was the side crust. We didn't taste any spiced honey but it is shiny on top. The carrot butter sauce tasted like mango. Hmmm.

Thank you. I made a reservation for dinner here for my May Trip. I am cancelling. The menu is not good for me...no pasta choice.

I dislike the dinner menu. If anyone has eaten there for lunch, with the new spring menu please post it or review. I cancelled my dinner reservation and booked a lunch but if I do not like it I will cancel.

Also I checked the website and app the dinner menu does not reflect the new offerings. The lunch menu still has the fall and winter offerings. So thank you very much you saved me time and money!

There are lots of new food items at the parks. I'm glad that they are trying to offer healthier options.

Rancho del Zocalo

Shrimp Ceviche
- Shrimp, Aguachile Marinade, Salsa Macha, Guacatillo with Tostadas

I think the chips were placed to look like :earsboy:. This was a small but deep bowl. Probably a dozen medium sized shrimp, cucumber, onion, tomato in a very lime marinade. They asked if I wanted chili sauce and I asked for it on the side.

1746148971396.png

Picture with fork to give size perspective. It was plenty to eat but not so much that I couldn't finish it. It was refreshing to have a light lunch compared to other high fat/carb options in the parks.
