My Disneyland dining reviews, with pictures

We ate at the lounge at the DLH (previously the steakhouse 55 lounge). We loved it so much we ate there twice on our trip! Lol. The first time we dined we got the steak frites. Delicious. Cooked perfectly. Excellent service. Our server told us they are closed Monday and Tuesday nights. We asked why the lounge isn’t on the app and she mentioned they are going to try to re-brand it. Both times we went it was dead. It’s a perfect quiet spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. She also mentioned that the steakhouse 55 restaurant is now used for storage

The next time we tried it was Wednesday night. We got the burger. Was the best burger we have had in a really long time. (Sorry the photo is dark…it’s really dark in the lounge. Lol).

Interesting that the burger comes with steak fries while the steak frites comes with shoestring fries.

We noticed that too. They were both good. We really enjoyed it here. I kinda hope it stays a hidden gem. Lol. After seeing your hearthstone lounge photos, we want to check that out next time too.

Thanks for posting! We may try and eat there after our day at Universal. Do you know if they still service dinner after 8pm?

I would think so but I’m going to guess they close at 9pm. Reason I’m guessing that is that we also tried the palm breeze bar and they closed at 9pm and our waitress told us both places share the same kitchen (and goofys kitchen too). I wish they would show the menu and hours on the app!

Thanks for this! If we can't get there around 8pm we will try and go another day. The food looks great!

There is a reason I never eat at Red Rose Tavern.

Tavern Chopped Salad - Chopped Romaine with Mixed Greens, Capocollo, Rosemary Ham, Muenster, Olive Tapenade and Crouton Crumble with Creamy Italian Dressing

Pretty generic. Not sure why this was referred to as a chopped salad.



Spicy Chicken Cordon BOO (seasonal item) - Fried Chicken Filet seasoned with Four-Chile Spice, Pickle Aïoli, Pickle Chips, Prosciutto and Swiss Cheese on a Toasted Brioche-style Bun, with Cuties® Mandarin Oranges or Taverne Potato Bites

At $15.79, this is one of the worst items I've eaten in the parks.

Craftsman Bar at the Grand Californian

Halloween Espresso Martini - very good! Light and refreshing and not overly sweet like some espresso martinis. They put a vanilla wafer on it, which I don't think is necessary. If I get it again, I'll order it without the cookie.

Waygu Burger and fries - I had the burger swapped out for an impossible patty. This was legit one of the best burgers/meals I have ever had at Disneyland. The pickle chips were amazing and there were pickled onions on the burger. It was insanely delicious and I believe I would have also enjoyed it with the beef patty. The fries were super thin and almost chip like. It's worth leaving the park for this burger.

Jack's Nom Nom cookies- Chocolate chip cookie and milk- very disappointing. I LOVE chocolate chip cookies and this was nothing like a chocolate chip cookie. Not sure what it tasted like, but I would never order it again.

Sonoma Terrace - Pineapple Passion - I get this often. It's a very delicious and refreshing rum drink. It's a pretty color, slightly pink. They pour it from a premade bottle.

Stand near Paradise Grill - Garlic and Cream cheese bread - very good. Such a weird combination of Hawaiian bread, cream cheese and garlic and for some reason, it's delicious. Ate the whole thing in like a minute. It's available throughout both parks at various stands.

Had dinner at Tiana's Palace last night.

Seven Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Sausage - Braised Chicken, Andouille Sausage, White Beans, Okra, Yams, Sweet Potatoes and Heirloom Rice

Everyone in our party likes this gumbo. It is quite satisfying and, unless we are really hungry, we usually split it amongst a couple of people.

That Gumbo is so freakin good!!!
I’m not sure how to try anything else there.

We are totally sad too. That’s why we asked about it. We miss SH55 so much!!!

While we love the fact the lounge is open, we really wish they would open SH55 again too

I’m keep thinking in the back of my mind, once the dust settles on VDH and DTD there is a chance they bring it back, but could just be wishful thinking.

We keep hoping the same!! We also find it odd that the DLH doesn’t have a fine dining option.

Is the pineapple drink strong? Do you feel it’s worth the price? Last time I got a premixed drink at DCA, I felt like it really didn’t have any alcohol in it. So I haven’t tried any more. But this sounds delicious.

It definitely seems light on the alcohol. If you're hoping for a quality cocktail, you'll be disappointed. I put it on par with the Rita's Margaritas. It's a very tasty drink and it is alcoholic, but nothing at all like a drink mixed up by a bartender.

It was my spouse's entree. I had a bite and thought the filet was quite good. I don't remember tasting the chili sauce. Sorry.

Extremely accommodating. They can't customize things like ravioli fillings, but steaks shouldn't be a problem.

Didn't do very well today. The few items we wanted to try were sold out.

Aunt Cass Cafe

California Roll Sandwich - Shrimp Crab Salad, Wasabi Mayo and Yakisoba Sauce in a Milk Bread Bun, topped with Masago and served with Garlic Chips

This was surprisingly good. Compared to other items at Aunt Cass Cafe, it is a relatively small portion - more like half a sandwich.



Taro Bread Pudding - Warm Taro and White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Whipped Cream and Boba Pearls, served with a Coconut-Vanilla Sauce

This was good as well. If you like taro, you will enjoy it. If you have never had taro, the flavor might be too bland.



It was super hot and we needed to cool down....

Tropical Hideaway

Monstropolis Float - Ube-dusted Pineapple-Mango Dole Whip, with Passion Fruit Coconut Juice and Lychee Fruit.

Fantasyland Garlic Cheesy Brat - Bratwurst in a Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread

I thought it was a poor meat choice. The brat has tough skin and, when you try to bite through it, it slides out of the cheese. The Bengal BBQ skewers are a better choice if you want to add protein to the garlic bread. I tried the garlic cheese bread previously and it tasted like buttery, cheesy, garlic bread. This time I didn't taste much (if any) garlic and the bread was stale. Not as bad as the Red Rose Taverne sandwich, but this just isn't my thing.
