Day 3 - Animal Kindom & Epcot for Drink Around the World
Friday, April 20th
Today was Animal Kingdom day and I could not get myself out of bed. I was sharing a room with Cookie and she said she was making all kinds of noises but I did not budge. Try yelling next time,
Finally somehow I woke up and it was almost 9am. After I was finally ready we met up with Sue for our breakfast routine at the Swan Club room again. We got to Animal Kingdom right before 10:30 I believe. We got there just in time to get in line for Festival of the Lion King show. Lion King is one of my favorite shows so I knew I would enjoy it. Sue had never seen it either so it was a repeat show for Cookie only. As I expected, I liked the show, no doubt about that. Note to Animal Kingdom - you need bigger walk ways!! It was so congested when we were trying to get out of the show, the worst the whole trip. We then headed to "It's Tough to be a Bug", I had never seen this show either. This is by far the best 3-D show yet in Disney that I saw. I loved it, okay maybe not the stink bug part!! It was so funny and cute, I wish I could have done it again.
Next on the agenda was to get Fast Passes for Kali River Rapids, Cookie did not want to ride so she did not get a FP. We ventured over to the Dinosaur area to check out the new ride, Primeval Whirl. Can you believe there was practically NO wait on this ride!! I looked it over, watched a couple a cars go by before I decided if I wanted to ride. Let's go for it, I am glad that I did. This ride was awesome!!! You sit in this round thing that spins (not constantly) as you are going on a roller coaster track. I was screaming and laughing, not sure what I did more of. It kinda whips you around a little but it was not that bad. I loved that ride!! Next Sue and I rode Dinosaur, not bad.
It was now time to use our Fast Pass for Kali River Rapids. We got soaked on this ride but it felt so good. Animal Kingdom is a hot park, hard to stay cool unless you get soaked. I was needing that cool water. I did not want to bathe on that ride but I did. We saw what we wanted to see so we headed out of the park and onto the cold bus. Sue decided to go to Downtown Disney to buy some pins and shop around and I asked her to tag along. Cookie was still not feeling well
so she decided a nap was a good idea.
We got into dry clothes and headed to Downtown Disney. We spent a little over an hour there shopping and looking around. We knew we had to be back to Epcot by 6:00 for Drink Around the World (DATW) so we left and headed back to the hotel to get to Epcot. On the ferryboat to Epcot we decided to stop on the Boardwalk for something to eat, we had not eaten since very early that morning. The Boardwalk is nice, we ate at the hot dog stand and chilled for a little and then walked to Epcot. We met up with Cookie and Milo and his gang. We waited for a little bit for the others and soon SideshowBob (SSB) and his wife Ann showed up. Finally the rest of the group showed up: Debbie and family; Disfanatiks (Teri), her finacee George (forgot his DIS name) and her daughter Savannah; Nancy IL and her sister in law; and then some young guy. He introduced himself and he is......Jimmybop or Chad. It was nice meeting a new face. I had met all the other people before.
Well the gang is all here so let DATW begin!!!
First stop was Rose & Crown in the UK. Most of the guys drank, most of the ladies did not. Milo and a few others did Eat Round the World. So we walked around the park some, it was slow going - we talked alot, tried to take some pics, we did get a group pic and most of us should have a copy of it. We made it to I believe France when the Tapestry of Dreams Parade started. We stopped and watched that. (yet another first for me) It was a nice parade and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We carried on a short ways when Illuminations started so we stopped and watched that too. Somehow we lost SSB and his wife. We stopped and waited around for a little hoping to see where he went but we gave up and followed everyone out of the park.
We went to the Boardwalk to walk around and see what was going on. We spent a little time there and decided to go to the Dolphin to grab something to eat or some had ice cream. (We = Cookie, Sue, Teri and family, and myself) Eventually Debbie and her husband joined us and then as we were about to leave Nancy joined us. We were heading back to the Swan when we decided to hang out in the lobby and chat for a while. On the way there we ran into Milo and Lora and they joined us. It was nice to be able to sit together and talk. We must have been there for about an hour or so, we left a message with AlisonY2K (TSI_FAN) to meet us there but he never did.
Slowly we all went out seperate ways (to our rooms), on the way back to my room Cookie and I ran into AlisonY2K and talked for a few mins and then called it a night. Cookie and I had to pack for tomorrow was our day to leave.
That was an exhausting day for me. I was beat, sunburnt and my feet and legs were ready for rest after 3 full days of Disney parks!! I was having a great time though.
Tomorrow was MGM day and we were set to meet at the ferry boats at 10:00am.
