Has anyone done this? I just read about it for the first time. i was just wondering if it is worth $200.00 Here is the description from the DIS page...

It’s a Fairy Tale come true when you visit Disney World. With Princess themed attractions, as well as opportunities to meet these enchanting ladies, you’ll soon feel like royalty.

The ultimate experience is My Disney Girl’s Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian Resort hosted at the Garden View Lounge.

Princesses’ ages 3 to 11 are invited to attend this unforgettable event that takes place every Thursday through Monday from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

This regal gala includes tea for two, beautifully decorated cakes, and an opportunity to meet and greet Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora. Hosted by “Rose Petal” the children will be delighted by the stories, songs and Princess parade.

Each guest age 3 to 11 will receive their very own “My Disney Girl” doll that is outfitted in a Princess Aurora gown complete with accessories. The “Princess” participants also will get a silver link Princess bracelet, a princess scrapbook page, a “Best Friend” certificate and a glistening tiara.

The cost for this event is $200.00 for one adult and one child age 3 to 11. Each additional adult costs $65.00 and it’s $135.00 for each additional child. Gratuities are included. Reservations can be made through 407-WDW-DINE.

My daughter (17) went as the adult and took my niece (4) this past Thursday. My nephew was on the pirate cruise and the times overlapped so I could not attend.

I took my daughter and niece to the GF to check them in and pay. The party starts at 10:30 and people were in the lobby of the GF just after 10 waiting to sign in. Probably about 10:15 they started checking in guests. The people handling the registrations were extremely polite and nice. A gentleman who appeared to be in charge was very complimentary towards the guests. A server commented on my two's outfits.

Most children were wearing the fancier Princess outfits (with lots of sparkle). Based on photos I had seen of the event I bought Chloe and Amanda complimentary dressy outfits. Chloe was in a white sundress with purple and green flowers and Amanda had one a twirly green dress with a purple overlay and white flowers on it. Both had on dressy sandles. At first Chloe felt overdressed but once into the event she felt fine. She said there were children there in shorts and tshirts and she felt they should have been more dressed up.

After you check in you enter the area in front of the tea room. The gentleman running the show understood I wasn't staying but told me to come on in and take pictures. At promptly 10:30 Rose Petal starts the party. She announces it and is standing on the steps. There the children come onto the steps one by one and are sprinkled by rose petals (a generous sprinkling) and are given a tiara, They took care to choose tiaras matching the girls outfits (the choices were blue, pink and purple). The tiaras were very classy looking. Another person takes them to their table.

I took pictures of them and then left although I did go to the second level of the GF and watch them from afar for awhile. I am a little fuzzy on the rest of the details as I don't have the pictures back yet and Chloe isn't nearby but the children get a bracelet (its wrapped in their napkin), a doll and a rose.

The food is tea like food and was a bit fancy for Chloe. We knew Amanda wouldn't go for it either and told her she should just say no thank you if she didn't want anything. While they were eating Rose Petal told stories and another person came by (a Baron??? I think). The kids learned how to do a princess wave among other things.

Aurora comes and spends time sitting at each table and talking to each child. Plenty of photo opps -- Chloe took almost two rolls of film.

Afterwards you have to go upstairs to a gift shop to get your best friend certificate and your scrapbook page (which is really the scrapbook princess set that you can buy in the Disney stores on property).

Any other questions just let me know and I will ask Chloe.

We were going to do this but then backed up 3 days before. Anyway, the doll is priced at $45 and the princess dress is $25. So at least you get that much in product if you are wondering. Plus the cost of the tiara (I don't know) and other tokens. My daughter wanted to do another thing instead of this. Plus when I saw the food that was going to be served I was turned off. She spent a ton of time with Aurora for free when she was sitting on a bench in England (Epcot) when we were there in January. Plus we went to CRT both last time and this time. I also bought her 4 princess dresses for her american girl doll and she was thrilled with that. Good luck in your decision.:D

The Scrapbook page retails for 15.00 (its the entire kit like you buy in the stores.

The rose is a rose so that varies in price.

And the bracelet is small ...not a cheapie one but certainly not a jewelry store one either.

How far ahead can you make a reservation for this??

Thanks.

My DD4 is ssssssoooooooooooooooo in love with Princess Aurora. My problem is, we are going to WDW on Oct. 13-20, and they are only booking this event until Oct. 2nd. The whole trip is a surprise, so if we don't get to go to this she will not know. But I can't think of a better way to really surprise her. If anyone out there can help with any info it would greatly be appreciated. i.e. if they have extened this in the past or any info like that. I have called WDW and all the CM's tell me that Oct. 2nd is the last date and nothing else.

My DD (age 5) and I did this at the end of June and positively loved the experience. It was worth every penny. Lucy felt like a princess and I was misty eyed the whole time. We didn't especially enjoy the food, but that was not the reason for going. If you have a little princess who loves tea parties, you won't regret this!

Firepower, I too have been told that Oct 2 is the last day. I was planning on going in December, but have decided to go during our August trip instead. I don't want to miss out on this one. We'll be there 8/20. One question I have for those who have already gone is if you get a picture from the tea. When my DD went to the Wonderland Tea Party, she got a cute little picture in a little card of her with Alice and the Mad Hatter. Do they do anything like that with Aurora?

No - no picture but you can certainly take plenty of pictures and there are numerous CMs working the event that could take a picture of the two of you also.

We went here on our trip a few weeks ago. Although it was a really nice experience, and my wife and daughter both loved it, I didn't think it was worth the money and the attitudes of some of the other mothers seemed to take away from the overall experience.

I was really surprised by some of the comments from others who were attending. It was as if this was the best that WDW had to offer, but it still wasn't up to their lofty standards. One mother, for example, made a point of letting others know that her daughter was used to private princess Disney tea parties in California that typically costed around $1800. Another mother was bragging about how they wouldn't even consider staying at other than the finest, premium resorts and that this trip was the 4th for her precious 8 year old daughter, who was worth only the very best. Of course, their daughters were all dressed up in the fanciest princess gowns with all of the matching accessories.

My wife didn't want to say anything, but when asked, she finally spoke up and mentioned that our daughter (who came dressed in 'only' a princess t-shirt) was on her 9th trip to WDW, and that we stay at the Polynesian, which put a stop to all of the bragging.

Overall, it was a fun experience, but would have probably been a little better had we been with a different group of people!

As I mentioned before I didn't go into the tea as Chloe and Amanda only did it and Chloe hasn't mentioned any attitude in the tearoom however I was outside looking in -- part of the time in the lobby and once standing reading the menu...at any rate several groups of people came by and commented on the event in a derogatory manner in terms of cost with comments like $200.00 that is too much for anything etc.

What is the doll like? Is it similar in quality to an American Girl doll? I was going to order one for DD for Christmas but if we do this too than perhaps I don't need to? Does anyone have a link that I could see her clearly?
Also, can someone describe the tea menu to me - is it like the afternoon tea they serve at the GF Cafe?

The doll is similar to American Girl is size and look - if you do an ebay search I bet you will find it there. It does not come in the box though - it is out and dressed and ready to play with.

I think Janet K listed the menu on one of her trip reports. From memory (and without Chloe hear to ask) the children had sandwiches cut in heart and star shapes made from peanut butter and jelly and then another one with ham and cheese. The kids "tea" was apple juice. They were also served a beautiful cake (white with pink frosting layers).

I know the adult sandwiches were much different in ingredients...Chloe said they told her what they were but she is not here now - I will try and ask her later and get back.

Just to let all of you know, we finally got some answers from a CM. They told us that October 2nd would be the last day. They don't know if they are going to extened it or not, if they do it usually is about 1 to 2 weeks before the last date.:( So don't put of till tomorrow what you can do today.

Just to let you know I rang last Sunday and was also advised they were only taking reservations until 2 October. I then emailed Disney as no mention of "last" date on disney on-line. They emailed back to say it would be on during my trip dates (10/14 to 10/28). I managed to phone on Monday 7/26 and obtain reservations for 10/23.

hope this helps and good luck in getting your reservations - I can't wait

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU larrson7. I just called and got a reservation for 10/17. You just made a 4 year old little princess very, very, very happy.

You're very welcome firepower !

My little princess (also 4) doesn't know about it yet. Big surprise. But I know I felt like this :Pinkbounc :hyper: :Pinkbounc when I got my reservations. :teeth: princess:

Thanks for the info Larsson7. I think I'm still going to do it in August just in case since my 90 mark won't be until September. Plus, I figure it will be better to spend a day inside in August than it will in December since we won't do a park the day of the tea. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
