HI Everyone,

I hope this is the right forum, if not, moderator please move this accordingly.

I went to Disney last October (2017) and the Disney app drained my phone, DRAINED my phone. It was during the time of the iPhone update where the update was draining all of the older iPhones so I don't know if this was b/c of the update from Apple and is now fixed or if it is because the Disney App is a drainer.

I have an iPhone 6s. I can practice at home before I go and will plan to bring a small external battery charger but it was so draining that I don't even know if that will do much.

Any advice and experience is much appreciated.

I had that issue with earlier versions of the app but it isn't as bad now. If you are going to be in the parks all day, then you will need that battery! THey sell pre-charged batteries that you can exchange throughout your trip as they run low. $30 one time charge. Too much for me, but if you have a hungry phone...
You might also try changing some of your settings - if your screen is bright it eats up battery.

I have an iPhone 6+ and sometimes have issues with the battery, too, including with the app. If you go into settings, under "Battery" you can put your phone into "Low Power Mode" which will extend its life some during the day. If your battery life symbol at the top is colored yellow (instead of white, black, or green) then you have it enabled.

Note that this will slow down the performance of the phone some so use some of that patience you've saved up for your WDW trip! :)

Also, the latest iOS update has a new "Battery Health" system that you can manipulate on older devices (not sure if 6S makes the cut for that). I haven't played with it yet myself.

Take a picture of your fastpasses each day and save it as your wallpaper. This prevents draining the battery.
Purchase a small battery back up charger for your phone.

This! Also I periodically check to make sure I'm still connected to the WiFi. For some reason at Disney I constantly lose the connection.

If you're still having problems with it (which it is definitely a battery hog, even now) you could use the FuelRod service that the parks offer. That way if you use one up while you're in the park you can simply trade it out for a fully charged one on the spot. No worries about having to recharge yours that way.

Disney has updated the app many times...I think its more efficient now. Regardless, highly recommend purchasing portable external batteries (cheap on amazon) as backup!
