I have a strange trip scheduled that involves three reservations. The first is a package for myself, DW,and our three kids. We couldn't book our resort for one of our nights so we were going to split our stay. While trying to decide which resort to do for the second part (it had to accommodate our family of five), my parents and an adult sister of mine decided to meet us for the last couple of days. So, we decided to get two rooms at POP and one of my kids will stay in the room with them and we now have myself, DW, and two kids in one and my parents, sister, and one of my kids in the other.

Here's my question... Can I simply link all three reservations to my MDE account or do my parents need to create their own? I know we can link things together, but can we simply have one account? Has anyone done something like this?

I have a very similar issue. My wife and I are traveling with our friends. Each couple has a separate reservation, but we want to make dining plans and such together. Do we both need our own MDE accounts or will one suffice. How does this work with the delivery of Magic Bands (different homes) and Disney Magical Express (we are both arriving at different times)? Just a bit confused. Any light shed on this would be helpful. Thanks.
:confused3

We have had some problems with the same type of reservations. We are headed to WDW in June. My mom made the room reservations for my sisters family in one room and my family in another at same resort. We have two reservation numbers. We made our ADR's 180 days out no problem. They all showed up on all 3 of our MDE apps. When we went to make our FP+ reservation on Sunday. I could only access my name. My sister could only access hers and my mother was the only one w access to the other 8 guest. It's so confusing!! I will need to call and try to figure out how to get my family on my MDE so if I need to change something on the fly I can!

One MDE account will work. If any of the other families already has their own MDE account(s), you should use the 'Invite' function when you add them to your Family & Friends list PRIOR to linking the room reservation(s).

As long as you are connected using the invite function, you can make FP+ selections and ADR(s) for all individuals and they will show up on the plans of all appropriate MDE accounts.

One downside to using a single MDE account is you can't delete those individuals from your Family & Friends list once there is a MagicBand (or RFID Card) assigned to them.

Thanks for this. I just heard from Kathy Werling and she said this about our reservations and MDE -
"you can set up one account with everyones information. It would have both reservations listed. That way you could all get the fastpasses together.…If you both have separate accounts you may not be able to get the same times. If I try for dining by the time I do the other room the times might not be available if one a separate account."

Sounds like it is best to have ONE MDE account even though there are multiple reservations.

The bold text is not entirely true. If you connect with the other MDE accounts and they are listed in your Family & Friends, one person can make FP+ selections and/or ADR(s) for the entire group. That's the purpose of the 'Invite to Plan & Share' function.

I have eight people in my Family & Friends list. Five of those have their own MDE accounts and the remaining three are managed by one of my friends. I can make FP+ selections (at the same time) for all of them that have valid park admission linked to their profile, and I can list any or all of them on ADR(s).

this is what makes this so complicated. Where on Disney's site does it states these things for the uninitiated? I love Disney, but their planning instructions for this are very poor. Things like this should be obviously stated.

Create your Family & Friends list in your Profile.

Planning together is a whole lot easier when you‘re connected. Make dining reservations and FastPass+ selections that other Guests can view in their plans. Post reminder notes that each person in your group will see.

And having everyone in your family already in your list means their names can quickly be added to reservations, FastPass+ selections and other plans—a big time saver.

Streamline planning for any size group.

If you’re the one making plans for your family or travel party, be sure everyone is in Family & Friends. Then you’ll be able to quickly add anyone in your list to reservations and activities, and view and manage the plans for your entire party.

Get started now.

Simply go to your Profile and select “Add a New Guest” in Family & Friends. Adding new Guests is easy:
  • For kids or other Guests who don’t have Disney accounts, enter the name and age—that’s it. You’ll manage all the plans for that person.
  • To add someone who has his or her own Disney account, use Family & Friends to send an email invitation to connect. Once your invitation is accepted, you can start making plans together.
