First off I need to say kitchenaid Brand is out ( the dead one is a KA and it has been nothing but a pia to me)
I have some very specific requirements:
Needs to dry very well
Needs to be quiet
Digital display ( not sure if they do that anymore)
And lastly it must clean the dishes ( my KA never cleaned well even when it was brand new)

Thank you for your thoughts :)

Tina

I have a Bosch, and it meets all your requirements, but it doesn't have a digital display. Sorry. :)

Digital display might be a thing of the past- idk.
It is most important to me to have clean dry dishes from a dishwasher :)

don't get one with the silverware in the door.

I second the Bosch. absolutely love mine!

My mom and I both have this Whirlpool dishwasher.

We've both been very happy with it. No digital display, silverware CAN go on the door (or it can go in 2 other locations in the washer - I use mine on the door to maximize space), and it gets dishes very clean.

We put in a Bosch last spring and it works really well. It's so quiet I have to look at the light to see if its on.

My less than two year old Bosch just died this weekend, so I'm pretty annoyed. Waiting for the repair people to call back now.

During it's brief working period, it cleaned the dishes OK, but it has a terrible and inefficient rack layout. It held maybe 60% of the dishes that every other dishwasher I've ever owned held.

My parents have a Kitchen Aid and it has been a dream. It works VERY well and it is so quite you can't even tell it is running. Maybe you just had a dud machine?

Our DW went out right before DS18's graduation party last June. We are planning on redoing our kitchen in the not to distant future and didn't want to put a lot into the DW because we were not sure what other appliances we were going to get. We got a $250 Kenmore at Sears. It works amazingly well at washing dishes. It is fairly quiet too. It doesn't dry worth a darn so we don't even run the dry cycle, we just open the door and let the dishes air dry for a while. We have also noticed a drop in our electric bill since we started doing that too so, I don't care that it doesn't dry :lmao:.

The inside is HUGE and the silverware holder can be placed on any side of the lower rack which I LOVE. I can get in even my biggest dishes/bowls, etc. without any issues at all.

Me, too. :) I can stand right next to it and not even hear it. lol

We've had ours for a year and a half and it works like a dream and I love the stainless interior. :)

okay. My dishwasher is not spouting water. Anyone know why this can happen? See what you started OP? ;)

I also have a new Fridgidaire, and I love it! I don't know the exact model, but I know it's a mid-grade.

I"ve had a Bosch for six years and love it for the most part. I can be standing in front of it and not hear it. It does not, however, hold as many dishes as my last dishwasher. There are models that hold more, but I found them after buying this one.

My advice, after you narrow down your selections, take a plate to the electronics store with you to see how the tub sizes compare.

Miele, although no digital display.
It's so quiet that I have to touch to feel if it's warm and vibrating slightly.

I actually did this and it's one of the reasons I bought the Bosch in the first place. It holds our dinner plates just fine (and they are a little taller than average, so that was a factor). But it doesn't hold pots or pans worth a dime, and it holds far fewer glasses than every other dishwasher I've ever had.

I just did a major remodel and have the Whirlpool professional. I thought it was not working it is so quiet - plus the dishes come out spotless not matter what crud is dried on when I finally turn it on. It was very expensive though.

I also bought a mid-level from Sears at a previous home that worked very well.

I think it depends more on what grade you buy than the actual brand. I have a really awful GE in another home, but I am sure that it is the cheapest thing the builder could find.

You want one that heats the water - not that just depends on how hot your hot water is.

Just got the Whirlpool Gold previous poster linked to and I am very happy with it. Much quieter than my old one, but probably not as quiet as a Bosch would be, but not so loud you don't want it running when you are trying to talk/hear tv.

I was told by salesperson, as well as neighbor who had a Bosch that quit working not long after purchasing (she bought a Whirlpool after), that the Bosch doesn't try plastic. So if you have young kids and use plastic plates/cups this might be a reason to avoid that brand. I know I want my dishes to come out dry ... and they all do -- plastic included in my new one.

I have a Bosch. The best I can say about it is that it is very quiet, looks nice and I am getting used to it. I don't like the way it loads but there is a youtube video. I just don't believe that there should be a learning curve to a dishwasher. I researched this unit. Consumer Reports rates it very well but to be honest, my old Kenmore cleaned better, loaded better and for half the price.
