Here are a few little tidbits from our recent dining experiences:
Sci-Fi (lunch) - One of our favourite places to eat. I love the atmosphere, especially on a hot summer day. We ate here twice during our trip. Once I did the chicken strip appetizer with a side of fries and a milk shake. I liked this better when it was the buffalo popcorn chicken, but still tasty. More than enough for me quantity wise. My son had the mac 'n cheese and a milkshake. He was in it more for the shake than the food. He also ordered that caramel donut dessert which was amazing.
Garden Grill (breakfast) - Another standing favourite of ours. It's delicious every time. We had an 8:15 ADR, checked in about 8:05 and were done and ready to go (saw each character twice) by 8:35. We lounged around 10 more minutes before heading to Soarin'. The cinammon bun here is amazing and the staple breakfast food of eggs, bacon, sausage and waffles was all good.
Coral Reef (lunch) - We had an early ADR 12:15 because I have always had success getting a tank side table for an early lunch because the restaurant is nearly empty. I always have the striploin here and it was pretty disappointing last time so I tried the chicken and it was not great at all. I'm ready to take this one off of my dining rotation, if I can get my DS to agree. He loves sitting by the aquarium. The chocolate wave dessert is presented/plated diferently now so it's not quite as impressive looking, but still tastes greate.
Hoop Dee Doo Revue - Amazing, always. The show itself is great, but the food is also really good. I just love the fried chicken and the ribs are very tender. I'm not a fan of the mashed potatoes (here or most places at Disney, too mushy), but the strawberry shortcake makes up for any shortcomings.
EMM Fantaslyand Pinocchio Village Haus - We did this twice in our trip and the buffet included for breakfast is nothing amazing, but it is good and does the trick. Pretty standard fare, no real complaints.
La Cantina San Angel (dinner) - Light dinner that night of nachos. No complaints at all, pretty tasty. This is one of my fave QS at EP.
Flying Fish (dinner) - This was a first for us and we will be back. We both had the wagyu filet and my DS, who loves his steak, said it was the 2nd best he's ever eaten (he loves Yachtsman more). Service was fantastic, everything about the meal was pretty perfect.
Casey's (lunch) - I can't do a trip to WDW without the corn dog nuggets from Casey's. Something just very appropriate about that. Nothing gourmet here, but always a tasty treat.
Cape May (breakfast) - One of my favourite character buffets. The food here is very good, fresh and hot. The omelette station is a nice plus. Character interaction was really good here and well organized so we weren't waiting long to see them all.
Tusker House (lunch) - This was my least favourite character meal and has been for the last few trips. I don't like the lunch options (this is more my personal taste and not a comment on the quality of the food). The characters are always rushed for us here and we always seem to end up sitting around waiting for them a lot.
Yachtsman (dinner) - My DS has said this is his favourite since the first time he tried filet there 3 years ago, he's now 10. It did not disappoint. Best steak I've ever had is always at Yachtsman. My DS also ordered the Admiral's Cake for dessert which was the most ridiculously huge, yet amazing thing I've ever seen or tasted. This is a must do for us every trip.
Biergarten (lunch) - IMO, you can't go wrong with schnitzel and they do it pretty well at this restaurant. Lots of variety and even the pickier eaters can find something here. We were seated with a great couple who were so much fun to talk to. The community seating here really can make for an enjoyable time.
Crystal Palace (dinner) - I usually try to have breakfast here but couldn't make it work in our plans so we did dinner. The wait was long, the characters were super slow to get to us and the food was not that good at all. I doubt I will repeat dinner here, but we do love Pooh and the gang, so will stick with it for them.
Beaches & Cream (lunch) - Love this place! I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was fantastic. My DS did the hotdog and fries and loved it and of course the shakes/floats were amazing. DS ordered the No Way Jose and only just slightly made a dent in it before being full, it was huge!
Satu'li Canteen - This was part of our VIP Nights of Adventure Tour and they gave us a sampling of many things on the menu. Everything was amazingly delicious, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food for a QS. The chicken was the highlight for me.
'Ohana (breakfast) - DS loves stitch so this is a must do every trip. For the first time ever, we were seated immediately and I was shocked because we almost always are left waiting. We had an 8:25 ADR and checked in pretty close to that time. Saw all characters pretty quickly and food is very good. I love the family style dining over buffet, so much more relaxing. Bacon is no longer included in this meal, but they happily brought us some upon request.
Chef Mickey (brunch) - As per usual, we waited the longest here of anyway to be seated. That restaurant is notoriously overbooked. I got a bit cranky about it, probably because I was hangry. 30 minutes after check-in we were seated and told by our server that we had just missed all the characters and will be awhile. Just what I wanted to hear lol. The food here is not good, IMO. DS was happy that breakfast was still available so he was happy with his waffles and bacon. We did eventually see all the characters and the interaction was pretty good, so it ended up better than it started.
Ale & Compass (breakfast) - Very nice spot. We did breakfast here on departure day and had the bacon and eggs and it was well prepared and very good. Excellent service as well.
All in all, a great eating trip and service was really good in almost all places we ate and even when it wasn't really good, it was still good. We had no service issues at all. Now I'm looking forward to planning our next vacations dining!
