I won't go too into depth because we ate quite a bit while we were in orlando, but here's some brief synopses of our meals.
Cafe Tu Tu Tango - We ate here after a long drive and day at universal. Needless to say, everyone was completely zonked when we sat down to our meal at 11PM. We waited quite a while for a table. I assumed most the servers had gone home. For those of you that have not been, Tu Tu is a Tapas Bar/Restaurant on International Drive. We had their soup, smoke chicken quesidallas, Beef Kabobs, and Lobster Tail. The most memorable were the soup and quesidillas. All in all this is a fun place with good service and food. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants something different off disney property.
Mythos - We had lunch at Mythos which is heralded as the best theme park restaurant in the world. It's good...but not that good. I had a Spinach Risotto with Almond Crusted Pork Chop. It was a special for the day and was quite tasty. The rest of the table ordered some burgers and chicken sandwiches. The service was good and the themeing/view of the restaurant is great!
Emeril's (Kitchen Table) - This came from a recommendation of a friend. It was a special 1-year anniversary meal for my GF and I, and we were not disappointed to say the least. There were over 12 separate dishes with wine pairings. Suffice it to say, everything was amazing. I would love to go into detail, but it would be way too much reading/typing for one to endure. The highlight was the Veal tenderloin with mushroom polenta. It was the best I ever had. The Kitchen staff tended to our every need and answered any questions we had regarding our meal. This was an experience I will never forget. For the price tag alone, I would definitely recommend this over V&A's.
Bistro De Paris - After our dinner at Emeril's, this was quite a let down. We did the Degustation (5 courses) w/wine pairings. The portions were ridiculously tiny (I understand they're supposed to be small but this was overboard). The pairings were ok. Most of the wines were mediocre at best. We had a Rose, Riesling from Alsace, and Pinot Noir. The Foie Gras was overcooked and my lamb was done in 3 bites. We allotted 2.5 hrs for dinner but ended up missing Illuminations because the service was so slow. We had DDE so the 20% helped out but I doubt we will go back.
Tchop Tchop (twice) - One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Matthew Stephen (manager) and company always take care of us when we go. I went the 5 course tasting both times. They added a 6th course especially for me and gave us all an amuse bouche. If you haven't been what are you waiting for? : )
Rainforest Cafe - What a fun place. This is one of those places that always reminds me of disney. Say what you want about the food, but we always have a great time when we go there.
CA Grill - Another under whelming meal at CA Grill. Our server was very curt and explained that the menu changes daily. I had been in Jan and there were maybe 3 slight changes. She brought over the wrong wine and said it was the bars fault. The highlight was the Foie Gras (same preparation it has been for almost a year). It was cooked perfectly and the apple compote has always been a nice counterpoint. I had my reservations about the Lamb ($40), and for good reason. One bite and my one chop was done. Fat, gristle, and bone went throughout the chop and I sent it back. I did not receive silverware and by the time I did, my friends were done eating. The waitress insisted that I have the pork and I ate the entree by myself. The fireworks were nice...but that's the only reason people go there now isn't it? : )
Coral Reef - This was a first for us and what a surprisingly good experience. I have heard slightly mixed reviews and was pleasantly suprised. We were seated right next to the tank and had a nice lunch. The shrimp was akin to a scampi and the lobster bisque was nice, thick, and rich. Our server was pleasant and very knowledgeable. We'll defiantly be going back.
Le Cellier - This was our first lunch at le cellier. The service has always been good and the food was spot on. I had a butternut squash risotto and beef kabob. MY GF did not care for her salmon sandwich but everyone else had no complaints. I believe this is one of the staples in epcot. We've never had a bad meal and will continue returning.
Citricos - We decided on Citricos because we liked the menu better than Narcossees. I wish we had gone to the later. The best part of our meal was our Trimbach Gewustraminer that I've had before. They're known for their veal shank. Let me tell you that this was the most flavorless, dry, piece of meat I had in ages. I was sick of sending food back so I kept it and ate my GF's salmon which smelled and tasted days old. The server was great but we did not care for Manuel, the host. He did not say one word to us while we were seated. I even thanked him twice for our menus with no response. We will not be going back and will try narcossees next time.
