At the end of Sept we had our 16 year old dog put to sleep. He had congestive heart failure and was suffering. April/2003 we had our other dog put to sleep. In May 2003 we did get another dog as our remaining dog was lonely by himself. He would cry when we left him.

The remaining dog we have is a loner. She was 3 when we got her. Was the only dog in the house she came from. She is used to being by herself, doesn't cry when we leave her and is fine when we return. I don't want another dog. 1 is enough. Do you think dogs are ok along all day or should I give in?

I'm bumping this up because I'll be interested in the responses. My dh wants a second dog too!

my husband was talking about going back to see if there are any more sisters or brothers to go with megara.......i said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OMG - my DH has been talking about a second dog too!!

I love dogs, but I think one at a time is enough. Besides, our dog HATES other dogs. DH says it's because she hasn't been around them enough and once she lives with one she will learn to love having a playmate.

Our DDs are playmates enough, in my opinion.

We have two dogs. I like having two dogs. I don't think our old guy is going to last much longer though. Our old guy doesn't like other dogs either but it wasn't much of an issue when we got the puppy.

We got the puppy when I wanted a baby in the house and a puppy was the only baby we were going to get!

we have a 9 month old doxie and in a few weeks we are getting a (almost) 2 y/o one!!! I think it will be intresting, but I'm sure they will learn to love each other!:jester:

(get back to me about the second week of november,,Ill really be able to tell you then!!)

we had our first dog for a year before getting another. Ti is very small and likes to be left alone, Tash is just the opposite. They have their moments but they also do play and keep each other company. One day Ti went to close to another big dog who started coming at her and Tash got between them and "barked" the other dog down. LOL. I like having the two but I think they'd be just as happy alone. (they both sleep 90 percent of the day anyhow:crazy: )
