I was out of town last night for business. I closed the bond deal this morning at 9 and then drove from Seattle to my office in central Washington. Just as I walked into my office (right around noon) - one of my employees hands me the phone and says "it's your husband - he is in the hospital and he needs you to come get him!" :(

It turns out that around 3 AM this morning he got hit with a bad kidney stone (I suppose they are all bad). He gutted it out until he got our DD safely off to school and then drove himself all the way into town (a good 35 minute drive) and took himself to the emergency room. Poor guy was in a ton of pain. They doped him up with LOTS of painkillers because he was hurting so bad, and sent him to the clinic for a series of xrays and a meeting with the Urologist from Wenatchee (who just happened to be on his one day a week remote practice visit here in Moses Lake). He literally spent the entire day there doing xray after xray.

Unless he (by some miracle) passes the darn kidney stone tonight - he is scheduled for the surgical procedure tomorrow morning to remove it. This is of course quite routine - and I am sure many other DISers have undergone this... but I sure would appreciate your good thoughts and wishes on his behalf. I believe it helps.

Some Valentines day huh?! I guess I will have to display my love by making sure he is well cared for.

Edited so I could note that there is an update on page 3.

Laura, I am so sorry to hear that he is in such pain. I do hope that things go well for him and that if he has to have the procedure that it will go well for him and that he will have an easy recovery. {{hugs}} to you both

Ugh! Your poor DH! I feel for him, as I watched my DH go through this about 5 years ago, on Christmas Eve. Hopefully he will pass it on his own, but if not, I hope the surgery goes well and that he has a speedy recovery.

Prayers and pixie dust speeding towards your dh DD! Poor guy...that is such awful pain. I hope he does pass it tonight!

Good thoughts for your DH. I hope everything goes well for him. {{{hugs}}}

Awwww Laura. :( I've heard that kidney stones are extremely painful. That's a shame. Poor guy. :( I'll say some prayers tonight and tomorrow for him.

Ouch! I'm sorry he's going through that. Prayers and pixie dust on the way.

So sorry to hear about Greg, Dbl D. :( Inever have had one, thankfully, but from the few folks I know who have, plus reading about some here on the DIS, certainly no picnic indeed. Hoping he passes it uneventfully and soon. My best for him.

Sorry to learn of this Laura! :( I hope he passes the stone or, has a successful surgery, whichever is less painful.

Valentine's {{HUGS}} for both of you.

Best wishes for your DH. I hope his pain is over by the time you read this.

Laura, lots of PD and water! for your DH. I have had 'em, I hate 'em. I hope he passes it (them) with out the surgery, but he is in good hands by the sounds.

You take care of your self, too. You will need to be not grumpy when you are tending to him. I'm sure he will make it up to you (the crummy V-Day) when he is feeling better.

Laura,
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Hope it does pass and if not he recovers from surgery quickly. Good thoughts to you and DD too!

Laura, I am so sorry to hear this...thoughts and prayers for your DH!! Hugs to you!

I have had NUMEROUS kidney stones (2 while at WDW) and have the laser surgery stuff. It felt like a deep tissue massge and the pain medicine was GREAT! Summer 2002, though, I had a stone so big they had to do the ESWL twice. But, again, good pain medicine.

After having to have a shunt every time (which falls from kidney to bladder and they have to replace) I have told them I NEVER want to pass it, want the electronic shock wave thing with good pain medicine from now on. Are they going in with a basket or will they do the electronic shock wave thing? If they do the second, it really isn't too bad....unless it was just the morphene I was on :)

LOTS of pixie dust coming your way and your husbands. I really think some of my stones were worse than child birth!

{{{hugs}}} for you Laura and lots of good thoughts coming your hubby's way. I hope everything goes okay and that he feels better real quick.

Ouch! Prayers and pixie dust being sent your way. Hope he is home soon.

Sorry about your DH, Laura. He will be in my thoughts, and hope he has a full and speedy recovery.:D
