My DFTW featured in a magazine!

Awesome!! Thank you for telling us!! Next time I am in Wegmans I will be looking for the magazine!

Do they have a website or something?

I am not a Disbride, however i had a Disneymoon back in 1994......ANYWAY....... The pictures I have seen on this board beat any wedding pic i have seen. These pics are fun, elegant, beautiful!!!!!!! i never even knew there was a stigma to a Disney Wedding!! I think you girls are so fortunate to have one!!!!!!!:)

The people on these boards love the DFTW's, however, the majority of people you talk to think that it is childish and very far from elegant. In fact, most of the people that we invited to our wedding (including my MIL and FIL) thought that.:sad2:

Congratulations!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I hope you get to see it!

Congrats! I cant wait to see the article & agreed on hopefully bringing a different view to Disney weddings

Thank you! I'm hoping this will at least be a small step in the right direction for a better view of the DFTW's.

Is someone going to scan in the pages and post them?? Pretty please??

Um, I'm pretty sure one of the moderators would take it down as soon as it got posted...that's a big dis no-no.

That would be terrible and some sort of copyright infringement, for shame

so..... seriously, anyone?

Yea, again...we would get into some serious trouble for that one.

Why is there even a stigma? I feel sorry for non Disney brides. My cousin paid what I am gonna pay for our wedding and she had a very standard country club wedding. Which is perfectly fine if that is what you are going for. I just don't get the whole stigma thing. Also, what is up with the knotties?? This is really the only wedding board I go to so I am clueless. :confused3

There truely is a stigma. Most people believe Disney to be a "kid's place" and that adults have no place there...especially for weddings. As I stated above, the majority of people we invited to our wedding were that way.

Congratulations that is so cool! I have never heard of a Destination Weddings and Honeymoons magazine... Where can I find it?

You can get it at any one of the lager book stores like Borders or Barnes and Noble. Someone told me they found it at Target to. :confused3 Happy hunting! I hope you enjoy it...let me know what you think!

Someone has to scan the pages! Or else I wont be able to see... :sad1:

I would think that maybe you could find it somewhere by you since the magazine is all about destination weddings and honeymoons. :confused3

YaY! Congratulations! :cool1: So yes, I used to go on the knot a bunch until I happen to stumble upon some of the disney boards and it is wayyy better!! A lot of the girls on the knot think it's rediculous to get married at disney and there is such a big stigma like previously stated!! I can't wait to see the article!

Blah! That's all I have to say to the nay-sayers! We know better don't we girls!

Awesome!! Thank you for telling us!! Next time I am in Wegmans I will be looking for the magazine!

Yea! Let me know what you think of it! ;)

Did those invited that felt that way, change their minds after the wedding? What about MIL & FIL?

How cool! :cool1: I'll check out my bookstore.

I thought I saw another Disney wedding in a mag. They showed the Cinderella castle in white chocolate if I remember correctly... I'll have to see if I can find it!

I just have to say......the white chocolate castle are yummy......We were down to wdw for our anniversary two years ago and we had dinner at the hooptee do revue and I had arranged with the Grand Floridian bakery/kitchen to deliver a special cake to my hubby and I ........we got two small personal size cheese cakes with a chocolate castle on each one presented on a tray and in front of them, there was a white fondant piece shaped like a parchment paper that read "To my prince charming from your cinderella"....they did an awesome job.....and they were soooooo delicious!!!

Congratulations, that is fantastic! Just looked at the link and your photos are fab.

Well done on flying the flag for Disney weddings!

Thanks for the link, and congrats on your fame!!

I haven't had the opportunity to check out the mag yet, but I looked on the site and your pics look gorgeous! Score one for the DFTW brides! I'm so happy for you...that's so exciting!

The top comments we get for wanting a Disney wedding are: "Who would want to get married at Disney?", "Oh... are Mickey and Minnie going to marry you?" (always said with a smirk) and "Oh... in front of the castle??" (also with a smirk). I just smile and :cool2: because we DisBrides know our weddings will rock (or have rocked)!!

Most of the people did not change their minds. My MIL and FIL told us they weren't coming up until about 3 weeks before the wedding. They came, but really seemed like they just didn't have a good time (mostly because they were dead set on proving what a bad time they were going to have). The guests that came that it was an awesome idea from the start and I was glad they were the ones to share in our day. They made it that much more fun and enjoyable.

I agree. The castle was so yummy! We saved it until our at home reception, used it on the cake we had at home, and then melted it down for fondu...yummy!

How cool!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks! We thought so too! :goodvibes

That's totally amazing and exciting!!!! CONGRATS!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thank you. I think everyone that came to the wedding has a copy already! :rotfl:

Thank you very much! I loved the pictures they chose. As for flying the flag, I am honored and proud to do so!

Thats such brilliant news! :cutie: Bet you can't wait!

Yes, I was climbing the walls until the magazine was released! :goodvibes

I heard those same flipping things when we announced we were going to have a DFTW. Doesn't it get old after awhile? I'm with you though, I just smiled and said you will wish you had been a part of it...and guess what...they do! Keep those heads up hight Disbrides! princess:

thank for the link. us Dis'ers not in the US wouldnt have the chance tosee so it's shame the copyrite thing spoils things!

Wish I could see more pics and the whoel ariticle - but the few pics which you can see on the link are great.

Personaly I have got quite wound up and end up rollin my eyes now when someone makes a comment "Oh are you going to dress as minnie ha ha ha". I should come out with a smart answer like "yeah, because Ive always wanted my wedding dress to be short, red with white poka dots!" I now just think to myself people are just niave in thinking just because it's disney it's tacky - I now just wonder why they think its funny to be taking the P out of someones wedding. The people who are coming know how lovely disney can make a wedding so I try not to take it to heart anymore - why get upset over what someone else thinks .... easier said than done of course:sad:

How fab that you got in the magazine!

You know what? B*lls to anyone that thinks that about Disney weddings. I am so tired of hearing the Mickey and Minnie comments, it gets tedious after a while.

We've got someone that has sneered at everything to do with our wedding and then moaned that she felt left out. Shame it is my SIL and we have no choice that she comes. I think some people don't quite get it but they know we love Orlando and Disney so think it is 'very us.' I think they will have a huge shock when they see it for real!!

I've mentioned to a couple of people that I'm thinking of getting married at Disney, and they usually say something like "You mean getting married by Elvis?" :confused3
I think these people are a little confused... :rotfl:

In the end the only people that really care about you and love and support you are the ones that will be at the wedding so to **** with the rest of them. It will be beautiful. I have never seen a DFTW that wasn't. I got your back girl!

Wait till you see their faces at the wedding! I was smirking the whole time when my MIL and FIL kept tring to hide their smiles. Everyone that came had such a great time and are still talking about it a year later! You wait and see!

I think these people are a little confused... :rotfl:

And I think they are downright rude. We Disbrides don't sneer at normal church/reception weddings. I don't know what gives people the right to think one is better than the other. They don't know what they are missing is all I have to say! :headache:
