My dear aunt is nearing the end....

Cancer so sucks....

It took my Mom,

3 of my aunts

my cat,

4 friends...

and now it's after my aunt, who is like my sister.

She was living with us when I was born. I always thought she WAS my sister! She is 22 years younger than my Dad and he raised her like his own. My real sister is only one year younger than her.

She stayed with us till she married at the age of 22. I was 8. I remember crying because I thought she was leaving us forever. She and her husband moved ONE block away.

She had 3 of my favorite cousins. They are like my kids. Her twins are both retired from the military, UNBELIEVABLE people, a tribute to the kind of Mom she is.

When my Mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, she quit her job and came to Tennessee from NY to take care of her. After my Mom died, she took care of my Dad until he passed. She was with them till the very end, they were HER parents, too.

Now she's in the fight of her life. First colon cancer, which she beat, then bone, now it's spread to her spine... we just found out today.

She's the youngest of 14 children and now her legacy is closing down.

I don't know how I'll survive losing her.... I'm in so much pain.....

I know, as many others do, exactly what you are going through. It is so hard and sad to watch loved ones suffering and eventually pass.

Right now I have my mom with breast cancer, my dad with lung cancer and my sister (46) with stage 4 lung cancer. If I keep typing, I will fall apart so I just turn the switch off when needed but boy have we and do we fall apart.

We also just lost my bil (47) to stage 4 melanoma in Feb. It's been very tough.

Let me just say that I am so sorry for you and for your aunt and for everybody affected. It sucks really bad and words won't heal that, but I will say a prayer for strength for the entire family, but especially you and your aunt. I just lost my grandma two weeks ago so know the extreme pain you feel. I hope you have a supportive network or friends and family who will help you through this. :::hugs:::

OmG... I'm so sorry for all of her struggles.

How well I know that switch, I'm at work now so this thread is my release.

My family is calling me hysterical every few minutes and I'm so torn. My son is distraught. He's lost half of his family to this horrid disease and he's only 17.

Thanks to all for your prayers and kind words... sometimes it just helps to let it out.

So very sorry to hear this Robin, as Cancer took my Dad when I was 3 left my Mom a widow with 3 kids, me being the youngest. It robbed me of my Dad as I have NO memories of him....Cancer knows no bounds and does not discriminate...I will be giving a donation to ACS in your Aunts honor.

Oh Robin, I am so sorry your loved one is suffering from the beast . Your dear aunt sounds like such a wonderful soul. Like you, unfortunately, many of us know this pain and terrible heartache. I've help nurture 2 parents thru the beast, sadly we lost dear Dad and praise God my dear Mom is a BC survivor. I won't go on to how many family and friends we've seen suffer, it's too heartwrenching.

Know that many hearts and prayers go out to your aunt, you, Michael, and all the family at this difficult time for comfort, strength, peace, hope and courage. You're in shock right now and it's times like these we lean of our medical team, faith, family, and friends, to help light the way and sustain our spirit one day at a time. Please keep up updated and vent to your Dis friends whenever you feel the need dear . Meanwhile try to stay strong and take care of yourself as your aunt would want.

Robin, I'm so sorry about your aunt. My sister is going through cancer treatment right now and you're absolutely right. Cancer sucks.

If your aunt is in pain, I hope the doctors can control it so she can live the rest of her days comfortably.

While it hurts, know that you have many people who care about you and don't want you to feel this pain either.
