My dd is putting her her college applications this week

Didn't realize how crazy this was going to be. She has narrowed it down to 3 colleges and 3 conservatory schools here in New York (she wants to major in Musical theatre) After putting in the applications and going through the audition process the wait is going to be a pain! Any other musical theater majors here, and what was your experience like?

DS majored in music, my first experience with the audition process. It can be harrowing. But it was funny when he auditioned. A few minutes into what was supposed to be a long audition, the professor stopped him, said "I've heard enough to know you're in." DS said he felt like telling the professor, "Hey, I've been sweating this audition and preparing for THIS? You're going to hear the whole thing!" But instead, he just said thank you. Meanwhile Dad and I were outside, ears pressed to the door, and when DS stopped a few minutes into the audition, all we could do was wonder-did he throw up? Pass out? Lose his place? Was so bad they stopped him? Good luck to you all! I'd be interested-where did she apply?

I can just picture what you and your dh looked like at the door at your sons audition! that will be me and my dh very soon! actually she has to have her applications in by december 1st and then she starts auditioning after that. We just went to the open house for 100 colleges at Juilliard the other night. She wants to major in Musical theater and stay here in New York. So many choices! She has narrowed it down to NYU, Marymount, Wagner, Juilliard for Drama or Voice and 3 conservatory schools. Will be glad when this is over.
