1. How did I get started? Well, I bought a few pins from the
Disney Store for our trip since I thought trading sounded fun. They don't carry pins currently at the Disney store but they are supposed to have some coming. Then, on our last trip I started trading and got really hooked as I only traded with castmembers so it was easy and really fun. I hooked my sil and my dd.
2. Where do I get pins? Mostly from ebay I am sad to say since you generally pay more than the original price but as I am on these boards a lot I have also found a few nice people who pick up pins for me from time to time. I also get to trade a lot now since I have bought pins just to trade.
3. I have traded two ways. Mostly from this board. I or someone posts a pin they are looking for and then we work out a trade. I have also traded at WDW on a trip. Then I have used trade assistant on the pinpics site to help locate possible trades.
4. The cost generally starts at a 6.50 pin+tax and then can go up from there. Limited addition pins at cost can be 8.50-15. On ebay it various by pin and how many people want that pin. There can be very expensive pins on ebay (many times more than they are worth).
5. Who knows how long it will be hot. But even beanies are popular with some still. I am sure the market will die down somewhat.
6. The internet is the best reference. This board is great with a lot of helpful people to answer questions. I also use pinpics and dizpins as references. Dizpins is a great source for new pin info and pinpics has most of the pins ever made listed in format you can reference.
Hope this is helpful.
