My 16 DD brought home her "baby" from her child development class yesterday. Kami ( the name she gave the baby) is driving her crazy with it's crying. In return she is driving me crazy with her complaints. Kami has waken her up multiple times through the night. My DD swears the teacher must have programmed the baby to cry more for my DD because she doesn't like her! I remember when I only had to bring home an egg for my baby for my class and the only thing I had to do for it was to make sure it wasn't broken. Her classmates and her have been texting each other through the night complaining about how their babies are keeping them awake. I sure hope they are learning from this!

We had the baby -ours was named 'Carlos Santana', lol! DS was up and down all night two of the three nights we had baby. The last night it wasn't so bad but all the students
had different experiences. I thought it interesting for a 14yo boy. Luckily, our house is long enough that we didn't hear 'Carlos' at night. I took care of him while my son played basketball, my girlfriends all wanted to hold him, lol!

As a Mother of a pre-teen, I say GOOD!!! :rotfl2: I was watching 16 and pregnant yesterday, and the girl on there was talking about how she thought it would be her and the baby walking in the park, and taking him places in his cute outfits. She said she felt like she was in jail now. I sincerely hope DD gets to participate in something like this when she's in high school.

Sorry you have to listen to her complain!

We are supposed to be making blankets for project linus today for Give a day. She states she doesn't know how she will be able to make one with a crying baby. I better go Kami is crying again. I need to wake the little mother up!

I think these fake babies are GREAT, they need to use them in schools with high teen pregnancy rates and require the kids to keep them for AT LEAST a week.

I think they should send them home more often instead of just one weekend.

Do you have one of these baby drop centres near you?

My oldest daughter didn't need a fake baby to keep her from getting pregnant. I had her brother when she was 15 and another when she was 17. Wow talk about effective birth control for a teen,
this sure did the trick.

My DD brought home one of those babies last month. From 3 a.m. on it was crying every 15 minutes. My DH took the batteries out at 6 a.m.

Turns out we had a "defective" baby as it wasn't suppose to go off in the middle of night... or at least that much .

It was worse then when my kids were babies. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Tell her it's even harder to do homework with a crying baby!

My DD plays ice hockey and one of the girls had her "baby" for the weekend. She brought it on the bench in a baby carrier and we about bust a gut laughing when we saw the male coach rocking the baby during play.

One of my friends at dance had a simulator baby...named Joey.

Hers was programmed from 3 p.m. to 6 a.m....all week.

We saw her on Wednesday, and she was a mess; she'd only had him a few days.

"I haven't slept in days!"

And it kept crying during class...oh, the poor thing, she was tired and miserable.

Still, she got up, and fixed whatever the "problem" was with Joey. We applauded her for that!

One of my HS girls in my small group at church was telling me about the "babies" they get at school for a similar class. She was telling me that a lot of the boys (not in the class) like to steal the babies and throw them down the stairs and stuff. I guess they are programmed, and these kind of incidents are kept track of?? She was laughing as she was telling me....but it got me wondering just how seriously these kids take this program??

So far my DD is taking the role seriously. I laid the baby face down on the bed and she started flipping out. Telling me that I suffocated the baby. Fortunately it began crying reassuring her it was still "alive". She did state that when she first received the baby a boy at her school did punch it in the head. This does make me worry about the boy. My DD does state their is a light in the dolls back that is supposed to light up with abuse. So far her light is off. Hopefully it stays off!;)

Kids take these classes about as seriously as a teen can take a class. If a kid really cares about their grade, they take it very seriously, if they don't care about the grade, they are the kids dropping them down the stairs.

One of DD's golf teammates just got done doing this baby thing in class. She had a "blog" of sorts on her Facebook page and it was quite funny actually. Her "husband" in her class was a good friend of hers and her family so he spend the weekend at their house so he could help. They talked about going to the mall, they had pictures of the baby in the swings at the park, etc. I noticed that they had the car seats in the car wrong so I commented about that and she said they knew that but they couldn't "help" the baby if it was rear facing and she was more concerned about getting a good grade then her "baby" getting "killed" in a car crash :lmao::lmao:

I asked my DD if she was going to put hers in a car seat and she said " no, i am doing a "Britney Spears" and am going to carry it in my lap while I drive".

I think someone on this board posted about doing this a while ago and got pulled over by the cops for not having the baby properly restrained. :lmao:

My DD's friend had one of these babies for a weekend -- they did have the carrier and well...ummm...we drove with it unstrapped because I had my REAL kids in the car & no room to put another carseat.

They had tech crew & DD asked if I could drive her friend so she wouldn't have to walk with the baby carrier (as she has to walk to school most times).

We would have made it work, however, I'm sure it wouldn't have really been installed correctly but I told DD if I got stopped for this they were paying the fine!!

Although I did laugh when they came out and it's the middle of winter here and the poor baby was barefooted and no jacket! She did have a blanket but didn't have it on the baby. My first comment was "that poor baby is freezing".
