Our daughter checked in on Monday the 9th. We arrived the evening of the 6th. She loves her apt. at Chatham, likes her roommates a lot and so far life is going DISNEY PERFECT!! :) Feel free to ask any questions....I hope I can answer them. LOL Tomorrow is her first day of "on stage" training. She is quick service food and beverage. She found out on Monday she is assigned to MK outdoor foods. She will be working the popcorn and ice-cream carts. She was also assigned to the nut carts but she is allergic to nuts so they took her off of that. She will also have further training in 14 days and put on "beverage carts" on Main Street. I guess that takes more training. ;) She has done some really fun things this week with Traditions and training. It is fun to hear all the updates. I am so happy for her.

My daughter checks in this Wednesday... I have a bunch of questions!

How much did you see her after she checked in? What was the itinerary the next few days? Did she have a roommate already or was she matched up there?

I'm sure I'll have more... thanks!

HI there. Yes she found roommates via whatever Facebook page people were using to match up. She actually met one of the three girls back in Nov. Her roommate is from Hawaii and she gets along with all three. :thumbsup2:banana: We did not go to Vista Way with her. I am not sure how the "parent part" works over there. One of her roommates picked her up at Port Orleans where we were staying. Her roommate was at French Quarter...they met the other two girls at the Vista Way check in site EARLY. They got there by 6:45 but she said really they could have arrived later and been fine. I was looking back at texts and she has a picture she sent me at 8:04 showing a picture of her handbook. I am guessing she got that then. ??? Not sure. I just know that checkin went fairly fast. She sent me another pictures at Casting and that was sent at 10:22. They took a bus from Vista Way to casting. Then after that we met up with the girls at DTD for lunch with ther other parents. We ate at Earl of Sandwich. They were able to walk across the street from Casting to DTD. Then we went to their apt. at Chatham and started the move in process. I think we got over there around 1:30 or so. They had a mandatory apt. meeting at 3:00 for almost 2 hours, so we left and they went to that. We came back around 5:30 helped her settle in a bit more and then went to dinner at Long Horn Steakhouse. All the girls went back with their parents that night and spent the night at the resorts they were staying at. They all have OFF on Tuesday. HOWEVER...my daughter was one of 5 people that had to GO BACK to casting at 1:00 to have her fingerprints redone on one hand...apparently she had an issue with a pinky. LOL Then she was free the rest of the day/night. The next day she had traditions. I left with her brothers on Tuesday afternoon. My husband left on Wed. He stayed Tuesday night so that he could go run errands with her out in town.

My husband and oldest son drove her car down on Thursday/Friday. They combined that with a college visit our son had in FL. So she has her car there for 5 months. She actually drove to work this afternoon. The buses take a long while she said. On Thursday and Friday she had training and this afternoon was her first time training on stage as she calls it.

We are actually returning this next Friday for 8 nights. We are DVC members and are staying at VWL so we are hoping she will get some times off and can actually stay there with us. :) We know she has two days off this next week on T/Wed. so we are hoping she will get two days the week we are there.

We will be in MK on Wed Jan 25 and Friday Jan 27th (my Birthday :) ) would love to say hi to your daughter if she is working...send me a PM if that is cool and if she is working.

My daughter's doing quick service also! What kind of shoes did your DD have to get?

For Quick Service they have 5 styles of black shoes to choose from. :rotfl2: She said none are any too fashionable. However they did get to see/try on some of the new uniforms coming out in Feb. :thumbsup2 She said they were better than the current one.

My daughter moves in on 2/20 as a character performer and we are all excited for her. Thanks so much fon posting your experience and offering to answer questions. We are arriving on the 19th and staying the week. We don't anticipate that we will see her perform, but have another trip planned in May for that reason.

I was wondering the time frame of checking in and actual park training and you answered my question, thanks! Were there many items in the apt. That your daughter needed that she did not anticipate? (e.g. Dishes, glassware, etc.?)

Thanks!
Maureen

Thanks for the info! You answered many of my questions. We are flying down on Jan 27th and dd checks in on Jan 30th doing merchandise. Can't wait!

Thanks for the information. You answered a lot of my questions. My daughter checks in tomorrow. We are at POFQ now, but tomorrow while she is at Casting, I'm moving over to AKV for the last 2 nights. I think I will also meet my DD at Earl for lunch tomorrow and then head over to start the unpacking. Hopefully, her schedule is about like your daughter's. Thanks for the help!

The kitchen had dishes/cookware/silverware. I brought a non stick skillet for her. Someone brought a toaster and coffee pot. I did't look to see what baking stuff they had....noticed one cookie sheet. Our daughter brought measuring cups and spoons. She also brought a rubbermaid pitcher. Someone brought a Brita pitcher too.

One thing I remember is that there were not nearly enough glasses for my 6-person guy apartment. And the ones that are provided were tiny.

I ended up getting one of the 22oz beers from Food and Wine festival (they also have them at various countries), and kept that glass and used it as my water glass for my whole program.
