My Daughter can't afford new windows...Any plastic window kits that work well?

Has anyone successfully used the insulating window kits? They are sheets of plastic put on your window, then strips are applied to lock them on. Some use hair dryers to "pull" the plastic tight for a clear view. Thanks for any help.

We usethem every winter to help but the will not repace a window. Very easy and cheap.

I've used the 3M ones before - probably because at that time, they were most likely the only ones on the market. They are easy to put up, and they really helped the drafty windows.
