Hey Gang,
Thanks for the prayers. My dad came throught the surgery and passed the first critical point of getting off the pump. He still isn't out of the woods, but to us that is one huge step. ... Lots of other stuff, but I'm exhausted it's been a long day, been up since 4am, but wanted to let you all know of today's outcome.
Apparently, one of the O.R. nurses significant other is a co worker of my mom's (she's a nurse too). He picks the teams that go into the operating rooms. He picked the top flight team for my dad. The surgeon is the "Best There Is!"
Apparently, he begged the surgeon to do the surgery. The surgeon is going on vacation next week and doesn't like to do a huge procedure like this before he goes away. But he agreed. Nice to have connections and God is GOOD!
As always my dad had his sense of humor last night. When dr. asked what he thought he weighed. My dad told him his weight and then added, "I'd be in great shape if I were 12 feet tall." lol They both chuckled.
It was an emotional morning. Mom was weepy, but still strong. Does that make sense? Dad was a bit emotional as he knew the odds of surviving the surgery were slim.
Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
Luv ya all,
Jan
