My cousin beat leukemia....

...and I'm leaving tomorrow for California to dance at her wedding!!

When she was first diagnosed the doctors gave her little hope. Years ago she won some kind of "lottery" to be able to receive an experimental medication, which I guess has now become the common medication given to everyone. It ended up saving her life, and she has been in remission for almost 8 years! She never thought she'd see adulthood, let alone get married, so her wedding is a true blessing.

She occasionally lurks here, so Michelle if you see this--I'm on my way--we're going to have a blast!

I assume the drug you're talking about is STI571, now called Gleevec. I hope it saves many more lives.

My grandpa was diagnosed w/ leukemia a couple of years ago and has been in remission a little over a year, so I know how excited y'all must be!!
