My contract didn't close - and no one called me??

I had been excitedly waiting for December 11th, when my contract would be finalized and I could finally be a DVC member. I purchased AKV directly through Disney using my Disney Credit Card. So every day since, I've been checking dvcmember.com and it has not been updated, and my credit card was still not charged. I called MS this weekend and they said everything was fine, just takes a few days for their web people to update stuff. But I'm too anxious so I called Member Accounting today only to find out that my contract did not close because my credit card was declined!!! Why? Because someone put the expiration date in as Feb. of 2010 instead of Apr. of 2010. I'm so annoyed!! It's the same card that was used for the deposit and that went through fine. The MA person said it would 'likely' process today and when I asked for a confirmation email, she said I would have to call back tomorrow (and then the next day, etc) to find out if it went through. That just does not seem right and I cannot believe that NO ONE called me to check the card digits and make sure my contract closed. You'd think they'd at least want their $$.

Please tell me DVC is usually more organized than this - it's not a great way to start off my purchase. :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear that happened. But one good thing - since you purchased through DVC directly you do not need to close to have member benefits (like making reservations).
Welcome Home!

As DebbieB said, within days of paying your deposit they set up your account and you can call MS to make your first reservations. A delay in your closing should not be an issue -- it just means the charges are going to hit your credit card later than they might have. Some would see that as a good thing!

I am surprised your guide didn't call you. I had something similar happen and my guide called to let me know. My closing was delayed but since closing is really a non-event it wasn't a problem.

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated. I'm annoyed about this for 2 reasons:

1-I have a trip next month using developers points - what if I never closed on the contract and then my reservation wasn't valid?
2- I really wanted the Disney Visa $500 reward points asap and now they missed the close of that statement (which was Monday). So I'll have to wait longer for those.

I'm surprised that the guide never called me - guess he didn't care!

Make a stink about the $500.00 with your guide and then Member Satisfaction. I'd be amazed if $500.00 Disney Dollars didn't magically appear!

It will get better!

Enjoy
